Operation PROTECT DONKEY-CHOMPERS: Leftwing Propaganda Media Goes Into Overdrive Claiming That AOC's Embarrassingly Incompetent Performance At Munich Was Akshually "Cogent" and Critics Are Just "Microscopically Dissecting" Her "Message"

If you took the day off yesterday, unlike me, you may have missed the story that Donkey-Chompers went to the Munich Security Conference because she's running for president and someone told her she had to show her "foreign policy chops" and so she read an issue of The Nation on the plane and figured she was all set.

She was not in fact all set. She embarrassed herself horribly -- more horribly than usual, if you can believe that -- and may have permanently damaged her ambition of becoming a Senator, let alone President of the United States.

In just a few minutes of Entitled Participation-Trophy Arrogant Stupidity, AOC shit the bed on multiple fronts:

* She asserted that the next president must impose a "wealth tax," and was embarrassed by a much better informed South American who told her to her face that Latin countries and repeatedly tried this and it had resulted in bankruptcy and immiseration every time. She also appeared entirely unaware that any new kind of federal tax can only happen if a constitutional amendment authorizes it -- the income tax was authorized by the 20th (?) amendment, a tax on wealth as opposed to income would require a separate amendment.

* She claimed that Marco Rubio was wrong that cowboys came from Spain. They did, because cowboys ride horses that only came over to America with the Spanish conquistadors. Some yesterday, Sean Davis I think, said, "How could someone with the last name Cortez not know that Cortez introduced horses to the Americas?"

* She claimed that Trump only thought he had the right to "kidnap" the dictator Maduro because Venezuela is "south of the equator" and you know those damn racist white Europeans think they're smarter and better than the Global South. Pro-Tip: Venezuela is not in fact south of the equator. I guess if you want to be charitable to a Make A Wish Foundation Pretend Presidential Candidate, you could say she was close. I mean, it is a few hundred miles from the Equator.

* Asked a lay-up, no-surprise, you-knew-this-was-coming question about the US defending Taiwan from a hypothetical Chinese invasion, this idiot literally said "um" and "you know" for a full minute before finally speaking in a (more or less) grammatical sentence, stating, essentially, Well we'll just have to hope that doesn't happen.

So you knew that the communist media was going to work hard to clean up for their communist Chubby Evita.

RCP's Tom Bevan called it yesterday:

If you think the legacy media carried water for Obama and Biden, just wait until AOC runs. Here's a taste from Bloomberg on her appearance in Munich:

protectdonkeychompers.jpg

Note that Bloomberg claims that her only critics were "Republican commentators" who "claimed" -- lied, that means -- that she was "unprepared."

Everyone with eyes and ears understands she was hideously unprepared. The analogy that occurs to everyone is that she looked like a third grader who was supposed to give a book report but didn't read the book so she just "ummed" for a minute before saying "it was a very, very, very, very good book, thank you."

Amazingly, Bloomberg claims that after she seemingly "flubbed" her answer, she came up with a "cogent" response, which was to say that we'll just have to hope and pray that China never invades Taiwan so no I won't answer your question about whether we'd defend Taiwan and I won't even sound authoritative in refusing to answer.

And it's not just "Republican commentators" who thought she looked unprepared. Gay Race Communism harpies Krystal Ball and Anna Kasparian blasted her as "not ready for prime time" and "embarrassing" and less than "mediocre."

As did a whole flock of leftwing Bird-Hand leftist Tik Tokkers.

AOC was so "big mad" that she was being held to conventional standards of cogency and preparedness that she called upon her favorite New York Time propagandist to spin a story that Akshually She Was There to Spread the Good Word About Gay Race Communism and She Succeeded Brilliantly, and of course the New York Times "stenographer" was only too eager to rally for the cause.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had anticipated a potentially frosty reception to her anti-establishment arguments at the Munich Security Conference, a venue she called "an elite place of decision makers that, frankly, are not responsive to a class-based message."

And the visit to Germany felt high-stakes: It was the most prominent foreign trip to date by the progressive New York congresswoman, who had mostly focused on domestic priorities until now. Her remarks last week about addressing working-class concerns around the globe, and the reception from world leaders, were both eagerly awaited and highly scrutinized.

But rather than the substance of her arguments, it was her on-camera stumbles when answering questions about specific world affairs that rocketed around conservative social media and drove plenty of the discussion about her visit, as political observers speculated whether they would make a dent in a potential presidential run in 2028.

...

"This reporter came up to me and was like, 'Is Munich the new New Hampshire?' And I cannot say enough how out of touch and missing the point, genuinely, that is," Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview, referring to the state's tradition of hosting early presidential primary contests. "Global democracies are on fire the world over, and established parties are falling to right-wing populist movements."

To Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, the discourse about her visit had missed the more important point about the risks of authoritarianism -- an argument that she said had been well-received by the Europeans during two foreign policy panels, private meetings with German leaders and an address in a packed university auditorium in Berlin.

Yes, she wowed them in "private meetings." Just trust me, bro. The New York Times "reports" this account from a highly-biased source about her own awesomeness as if it's fact.

Update:

55 "an elite place of decision makers that, frankly, are not responsive to a class-based message."

Europeans. Europeans are not responsive to a class-based message. Sure. Absolutely. Famously so.
