« Trump Signs Order Making Any Foreign "Student" Who Advocates for Terror Organizations Like Hamas or Hezballah Subject to Deportation; Promises Pardons for Abortion Protesters Within Days | Main | Thunderduck Cafe »

Quick Hits

A Hawaiian judge, from Washington, halted Trump's executive order ending birthright citizenship.

Don't worry, this was inevitable and necessary. There is a (weak) Supreme Court precedent that the 14th Amendment recognizes birthright citizenship; the Supreme Court would have to overturn that "precedent" before this new understanding could take hold.

I think the Court will unfortunately uphold the prior precedent, because Roberts and Coney-Barrett are establishment liberals. Kavanaugh and Gorsuch are weak, too.

But we'll see.

Pete Hegseth "advanced to a final vote," which will take place tomorrow. I assume this means the Senate voted to close debate, that is, they stopped any filibuster.

Murkowski and Collins voted against him. McConnell didn't, but bear in mind, this is just a vote to have a final vote. McConnell may say -- probably will say -- "I voted for cloture because a nominee deserves a vote, and now I'm voting against him.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski announced Thursday that she would vote against confirming Pete Hegseth to lead the Pentagon, becoming the first Republican to oppose one of President Donald Trump's Cabinet picks.

Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins also voted against Hegseth.

The Alaska Republican’s decision comes ahead of a crucial test vote to advance Hegseth’s nomination toward confirmation, according to the Associated Press.

The Senate voted 51-49 to advance Hegseth's nominiation. The final vote will take place Jan. 24.

BREAKING: The woke bishop Mariann Budde who at yesterday's prayer service tried to shame President Trump into not deporting illegal aliens runs a "sanctuary ministry" @ the DC Nat'l Cathedral that hides "our immigrant brothers and sisters who risk detention, deportation" from ICE

CNN to its frothing partisans: Don't pre-judge Trump, stop "relitigating" the Trump Wars of 2015-2025.

And he told them to stop with Ritual Maledictions of always repeating the fake lawfare convictions.

CNN journalists avoided mentioning the most sordid elements of President Donald Trump's past--including his felony conviction and two impeachments--during inauguration day broadcasts after the network's top boss told them to show some deference to the most powerful person on earth.

That's according to a report in media news publication Status, authored by the well-sourced erstwhile CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy.

During a routine editorial meeting on Sunday, meant to plan the extensive logistics of an inauguration, CNN CEO Mark Thompson told journalists to avoid "pre-judging Trump," Status reported.

In addition to instructing them to keep an open mind about Trump's second term--three days in, the president has already launched attacks on birthright citizenship, pardoned violent insurrectionists, and withdrawn from the World Health Organization and Paris climate agreement--Thompson told his journalists he does not want CNN's "coverage to relitigate the past."

Among those in attendance were Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper, star anchors who have long reported on Trump's record of scandals, opining at length on everything from sexual misconduct allegations made against him by over two dozen women to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Another transgender has once again "made history" by breaking all the records set by actual women in track and field.

A male athlete is making headlines for the second straight January after breaking more women's college track records.

Camden Schreiner, who goes by "Sadie," set facility records at Brockport's Rust Buster, a track and field event in New York where multiple universities compete, such as Roberts Wesleyan University and Schreiner's Rochester Institute of Technology.

The junior sprinter set records by winning the women's 200-meter dash in 24.50 seconds and the women's 400-meter dash in 55.91 seconds. The times were also program records, according to RIT.

"He is currently ranked #1 in DIII women's 200 & 400 meter dashes," said Ashley Keleher, former track star at Colby-Sawyer College.

And I'm pretty sure that I, an adult man, would be ranked #1 in my dojo if I beat up on children. ("We're all at the same skill level, Jerry!")

Megyn Kelly reports that the rumors about the Obama divorce are "picking up," and cites sources who say he's dating Jenifer Aniston and is dating her openly.

Okay well Corey Booker "dated" Rosario Dawson, too.

Claim: Mike Johnson is telling Republicans not to call Madison Cornbread (aka "Cassidy Hutchinson") as a witness in their J6 probe, because he fears all the texts congressmen sent her asking her for dates or sex will be released.

Alex Soros, vile offspring of Nazi collaborator George Soros, says he's upset at how much bureaucracy has grown up in his Marxist propaganda activist foundation, and wants to cut the deadweight.

George Soros was "very upset" by the massive number of employees and "amount of bureaucracy" at his liberal nonprofit, the Open Society Foundations, according to the Democratic megadonor's son.

Alex Soros, the 39-year-old son of the 94-year-old hedge fund billionaire, told the Financial Times his "only regret" since taking over Open Society Foundations several years ago is that he didn't slash the nonprofit's workforce sooner.

"My father didn't want to create an employment agency, he wanted to create a network of networks and he was very upset with the amount of bureaucracy at the foundation," the younger Soros said in an interview published Wednesday. "My only regret is that we didn't do that faster, because I feel like he would have wanted that."

At the Orgy of the Oligarchs in Davos, Argentine President Javier Milei lit up the global Marxists:

Yesterday, Milei said he wanted "to plant the ideas of freedom in a forum that is contaminated by the 2030 socialist agenda." Today, he did just that -- and more:

"The main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism. We're here to tell you that collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that afflict the citizens of the world. Rather, they are the root cause."

Speaking of the Woke Media deciding to commit Woke Suicide:

As you know, Jim Acosta was "offered" the exciting slot of midnight on CNN.

The word "offer" there is highly questionable. He's being "offered" the choice of either taking the midnight "Siberia" slot, or leaving the network entirely.

That's not an offer. If your choices are "move to the Siberia branch or you're fired," you're not being "offered" the sweet Siberia gig, are you?

Oh, and he's also off the CNN schedule.

Anti-Trump anchor Jim Acosta was left off CNN's new weekday programming lineup when it was announced on Thursday.

...

"We are in active discussions with Jim about a new time slot and will have more information to share soon," a CNN spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

...

It was first reported in the Status newsletter last week that Acosta was pitched by CNN CEO Mark Thompson to move him from his one-hour slot at 10 a.m. ET to a two-hour slot beginning at midnight, a far less distinguished place in the lineup.

...

One staffer believes Acosta is "getting hosed" by the network.

"Acosta is a talented broadcaster who could handle any slot on the network," a CNN staffer told Fox News Digital. "The midnight thing is shocking [but] it is what it is."

The lineup changes were announced the same day CNN announced roughly 6% of the network's workforce would be laid off.

The Los Angeles Times reported that if Acosta refuses to accept the midnight shift, "he may exit the network," according to figures familiar with his thinking.
