A hotel in El Paso and its owner face a temporary injunction and restraining order from the El Paso County Attorney for alleged criminal activity and suspicions of housing Tren de Aragua gang members.

El Paso County Attorney Christina Sanchez filed an original petition for abatement of a common nuisance, an application for a temporary restraining order, a temporary injunction, and a permanent injunction against the Gateway Hotel.

"The Gateway Hotel's reputation is as a business that does not properly document the guests that stay at the hotel, has narcotics trafficking, disorderly conduct, and violent crime," read the lawsuit.

The first documented instance of a possible gang member was in June when police were called after a suspect shot a handgun in the air and made threats of violence.

Police later noted tattoos consistent with the gang Tren de Aragua on inhabitants of the hotel on several occasions while investigating calls of disorderly conduct and fire code violations.

The Department of Justice is not involved, of course. They're too busy arresting people who merely attended the J6 rally -- although a recent Supreme Court case invalidating a fake charge they were convicting people of is now forcing them to drop half of all J6 charges.

Note that all of the defendants are being charged for other crimes (or "crimes"). That's because this charge was just made up to overcharge people with, to force them into pleading guilty.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has dropped nearly half of the obstruction charges pending against individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riot. The move comes in response to a June Supreme Court ruling that made it more difficult to charge defendants with obstruction unless it could be proven that they intended to stop the certification of electoral votes.

According to DOJ data, the department has dismissed the charge in approximately 60 of the 126 cases still awaiting trial. Thirteen defendants will still face obstruction charges, and the DOJ is continuing to evaluate the remaining cases.

For cases already tried, the DOJ has stated it will not oppose the dismissal of obstruction charges in 40 of the 133 previously adjudicated cases, with more reviews underway. One defendant has had their sentence reduced as a result of the ruling.

"There are zero cases where a defendant was charged only for violating 18 U.S.C. sec. 1512," the DOJ emphasized, referring to the obstruction statute. This means that even if the government drops obstruction charges, defendants still face other criminal charges.

Constance Mayer, who served as the acting chief Diversity and Inclusion officer until April of this year, raked in $194,510 annually, according to financial disclosures published by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The State Department's Special Representative for Racial Justice and Equity, Desiree Cormier Smith, makes $191,900 each year, the disclosures show.

The officials draw far more than the average State Department employee, who makes around $100,000 or less, depending on post and tenure. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the country's top diplomat, only makes slightly more, pulling in around $221,000 annually, though he is reportedly sitting on a "$10 million fortune" driven by his past work as a corporate consultant.

The financial disclosures provide a window into the Biden-Harris administration's push to emphasize what critics label "woke" priorities in the federal government. The State Department is leading these efforts internationally, reportedly pumping more than $80 million into a litany of programs meant to advance "racial equity" and prevent "gender and sexuality discrimination" abroad. Blinken formed the department's Office of Diversity and Inclusion in February 2021, shortly after a White House order instructed the entire federal government to ramp up DEI initiatives.

He also created the racial equity envoy position, which maintains a staff and office. Cormier Smith was appointed to the role in 2022 after working as a senior policy advisor for liberal billionaire George Soros's Open Society Foundations. Financial disclosures indicate her spouse pulls in more than $230,000 annually at Freddie Mac, the federal mortgage company.

Genuine question: Is it best to make up a fake field and pay incompetent people a lot of money to do fake jobs, rather than giving them jobs in real fields like medicine and engineering where they can kill thousands of people? I'm not saying it's just; I'm saying it might be the Least Worst Outcome. Put them in gold-plated rubber-rooms and keep them from killing people. (Of course, this plan requires all other departments to ignore their DEI demands.)

White House spokesman John Kirby sent an email attacking veterans who question Biden's disastrous Afghanistan Absconding.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby found himself in hot water after mistakenly sending a dismissive email to Fox News that criticized veterans on the anniversary of 9/11. The email, intended for White House staff, belittled a group of veterans who had been critical of the Biden administration's chaotic 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.

The veterans, including Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), took issue with Kirby's defense of the administration during a press conference on Monday. Mills and others accused Kirby of providing "cover" for President Biden's handling of the withdrawal, which many have blamed for the loss of 13 U.S. service members during the August 2021 ISIS-K terror attack at Kabul's Abbey Gate.

In the mistakenly sent email, Kirby wrote, "Obviously no use in responding. A 'handful' of vets indeed and all of one stripe." His remarks were a response to a Fox News inquiry about the veterans' statements. Realizing his error, Kirby later emailed a Fox reporter, saying, "Clearly, I didn't realize you were on the chain."

This email blunder comes at a sensitive time, as Kirby was traveling with President Biden on the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The veterans' criticism was focused on what they saw as Kirby's attempt to deflect responsibility for the Afghanistan withdrawal, despite many of its shortcomings being attributed to Biden's decisions.

As someone put it: This is the real "Suckers and Losers" scandal.

Boeing's Starliner returned to Earth, empty, leaving the astronauts who were supposed to return with it stuck on the space station until Elon Musk can scramble a rescue mission in February 2025. (At earliest, I think.)

Boeing's Starliner spacecraft safely returned to Earth early Saturday morning after spending three months docked at the International Space Station (ISS). NASA opted for the uncrewed return due to lingering concerns over the spacecraft's propulsion system, leaving test pilots Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams aboard the ISS until early next year.

According to NASA's Boeing Crew Flight Test blog, Starliner began its return at 6:04 p.m. ET Friday, autonomously undocking from the ISS's Harmony module. After a six-hour journey, Starliner safely touched down at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico at 12:01 a.m. ET Saturday. The spacecraft completed its descent under three parachutes and six airbags designed to cushion its ground landing. Starliner's heat shield also separated during reentry, exposing the airbags filled with nitrogen, which helped reduce the spacecraft's landing speed to 4 miles per hour.

Starliner is the first American-made orbital crew capsule designed for ground landings, which makes it a reusable spacecraft, a significant advancement for NASA's Commercial Crew Program. However, this latest mission has been riddled with problems, including thruster malfunctions and helium leaks. These issues arose shortly after its June launch, prompting NASA to decide that returning the astronauts aboard Starliner was too risky.

Jewish voters in swing-states are trending Republican. I wouldn't put much stock in this; I've been typing up this same story since the election of 2004.

Jewish voters in key swing districts in Pennsylvania and New York have been turning away from the Democratic Party ahead of the 2024 elections, a recent poll reported by The New York Post revealed.

The survey, conducted by the non-partisan Teach Coalition, an Orthodox Union project, and the Honan Strategy Group, highlighted growing political engagement among Jewish voters driven by the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in Israel and the rise of antisemitism in the United States.

The poll found that 56% of Jewish voters in Pennsylvania and 66% in New York's swing districts said these events had significantly increased their likelihood of voting in the upcoming presidential election. However, the survey also uncovered reluctance among Jewish voters to self-identify as Jewish, a trend attributed to heightened fears of antisemitic attacks.

Support for Democratic candidates had notably declined. In Pennsylvania, 49% of Jewish voters backed Vice President Kamala Harris, while 42% supported former president Donald Trump, marking a significant decrease from President Joe Biden's 68% share of the Jewish vote in 2020. Harris held 56% of the Jewish vote in New York's swing districts compared to Trump's 37%.

Jews could decide Pennsylvania's outcome

With approximately 300,000 Jewish voters in Pennsylvania and tens of thousands in New York's swing districts, this voting bloc was pivotal in determining the outcomes of the presidential and congressional races. In Pennsylvania, where Biden had narrowly won by 80,000 votes in 2020, the Jewish vote could have been decisive.
