Montanta's Republican governor signs law banning TikTok.

I don't think that's going to hold up. I'm not sure it should.

The Associated Press:

HELENA, Mont. (AP) -- Montana became the first state in the U.S. to completely ban TikTok on Wednesday when the state's Republican governor signed a measure that's more sweeping than any other state's attempts to curtail the social media app.

The measure is expected to be challenged legally and will serve as a testing ground for the TikTok-free America that many national lawmakers have envisioned.

Becca Lower points out that Montana has already banned TikTok on government devices or at a government workplace. This bans it for everyone, including regular ol' Joe Normal citizens, throughout the state.

The left could do that to Newsmax next week.

And probably will. This all makes the National Divorce easier, as anyone who doesn't want to live under Blue Misrule emigrates to Red States, making the ultimate territorial division of the country that much neater and cleaner.

24 Republican governors pledge troops and resources to help Texas protect its border.

"The federal government's response handling the expiration of Title 42 has represented a complete failure of the Biden Administration," the governors said in a joint statement, referring to the end of the public health authority, Title 42, which expired at midnight on May 11.

...

Within the past few days, groups of tens of thousands of foreign nationals arrived in the Rio Grande Valley and in other areas of Texas, overwhelming Border Patrol agents, officials said. Abbott has already sent more than 10,000 Texas National Guard troops to the border as border communities continue to declare emergencies.

"While the federal government has abdicated its duties, Republican governors stand ready to protect the U.S.-Mexico border and keep families safe," the group of 24 governors said.

...

The governors pledging support in addition to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is deploying troops and resources in the next 24 hours, include those of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Surprisingly enough, Merrick Garland's immaculately-clean DOJ will drop all charges against corrupt wire-fraudster gay-hotel-orgy-ODing Andrew Gillum.

A jury acquitted him on one charge and was hung on 18 others, so Merrick Garland said, "Don't bother retrying the rest! Let the Democrat go!"

Federal prosecutors have asked the courts to dismiss an indictment against former Florida Democrat governor candidate Andrew Gillum.

...

The charges are in connection to Gillum's time as a city of Tallahassee council member and mayor.

...

In the Florida trial, Gillum and Lettman-Hicks were charged last year with 21 counts including wire fraud and making false statements to the FBI.

Following a nearly three-week trial, jurors earlier this month acquitted Gillum on one charge of making false statements but were unable to reach a verdict on 18 other wire fraud and conspiracy counts against him and former campaign adviser Lettman-Hicks. Judge Allen Winsor then declared a mistrial on the conspiracy and fraud charges.

You're allowed to commit any process crime -- and all non-process crimes, too -- if you're a Democrat.

No, seriously.

An IG report just revealed criminal corruption by a Biden-appointed US Attorney.

And Merrick Garland is declining to prosecute.

Of course he is.

He doesn't prosecute Democrats, only Biden's political enemies.

As RedState reported, Massachusetts US Attorney Rachael Rollins stated her intent to resign on Tuesday in the midst of a DOJ probe into her misconduct while in office. Rollins had served in her role since January 2022, but she had faced increasing pressure to step aside as details of his malfeasance became public.

Of note is that Rollins was only in her position because Vice President Kamala Harris broke a tie twice to ensure she was appointed. Further, one of the instances of corruption involving the US attorney came via a trip taken with Jill Biden while attending a DNC fundraiser. In other words, Rollins seemed to be pretty close to the power brokers in the Biden administration. She was also widely praised by Democrats in the US Senate.

But while the ethical violations were already clear, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz has released his report on the matter, and things are even worse than first thought. According to Horowitz, not only did Rollins act corruptly and abuse her power, but she also broke the law in the process.

As usual, the cover-up is worse than the crime, and Rollins lied under oath to the Office of the Inspector General when questioned on the situation. She repeatedly denied being the federal law enforcement official that had leaked sensitive information to the Boston Herald. Horowitz further found that she "lacked candor" when questioned about her conversations with a reporter from the Herald. Rollins also apparently ran up against DOJ regulations (and possibly laws) involving the soliciting of illegal gifts as a government official.

Incredibly, despite so much criminal corruption being laid out so plainly by Horowitz, AG Merrick Garland and the rest of the powers that be at the DOJ decided not to press charges against Rollins.

Even this leftwing flake calls the charges "devastating:"

But no charges for a Friend of Biden!

NeverTrump -- how do you like those Norms being restored?

Are you still all crying that Merrick Garland never got his vote in the Senate to be appointed to the Supreme Court? He's so ethical! And politically unbiased!

A true credit to the American system of jurisprudence!

Hollywood is now making movies nigh-exclusively for what I call "The Garrett Demographic."

The Pedro Almodóvar Gay Cowboy Movie at Cannes Is Just So Hot

Almodóvar's "gay cowboy" short film stars two beautiful men (Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal), features beautiful horses, and is shot in a way that is just so... beautiful.

CANNES, France--The first thing you notice about Pedro Almodóvar's new gay cowboy short film Strange Way of Life is how beautiful everything is. In fact, I noticed it even before the movie started when the cast took the stage at the Cannes Film Festival. The eternally attractive Ethan Hawke, who co-stars with Pedro Pascal, was joined by a group of four absolute hunks. "You can see the beauties I am with," Almodóvar said upon taking the stage, before adding, "but they are also very good actors."

And then the movie started and the beauty only enhanced. In this 30-minute short, the men are beautiful, the landscape is beautiful, the clothes are beautiful, and even the horses are beautiful. (Like, these are not your normal movie horses. They are stunning movie horses.)

SO CLOSE TO PRIDE MONTH?!?!

Why is it, literally, always Gay Cowboys Eating (Dick) Pudding?

By the way, if you haven't watched "Jury Duty" yet, let me spoil a joke for you. You haven't watched it yet, so maybe this will encourage you.

The actor James Marsden (Cyclops in the X-Men movies), playing himself, spends the first couple of episodes scheming to get off of jury duty. He claims that, being a famous celebrity, he would have too much sway over the other jurors. He even gets his agent to call in the papparazzi to disrupt the trial, so that he can convince the judge his presence would be too disruptive. ("Well I don't recognize you," the judge says, and rejects his plea.)

During voir dire, he makes this attempt to get himself disqualified.

Woke Fake Cleopatra slammed as "historically incoherent."

Netflix's docudrama "Queen Cleopatra" has encountered significant backlash from both audiences and critics alike, resulting in unexpectedly low ratings on review platform, Rotten Tomatoes.

"Docu" drama? What is it documenting? Jada Pinkett Smith's enduring mid-life crisis?

Whatever.

With an audience score of just 2% and a critical rating of 10%, the docudrama has not fared well amongst viewers or critics.

Reviews on the platform have highlighted issues with the series' pacing and historical accuracy. One reviewer described the storyline as "slow and dreadful", while another pointed out the "insurmountable inaccuracies" of the supposed documentary, arguing that it failed to capture the depth or atmosphere of Egyptian history and culture.

The critics' responses mirrored the audience's sentiments, with a reviewer from the Daily Telegraph describing the series as "too soapy for serious history fans, and not enough of a soap for viewers who like juicy historical dramas."

With an audience score of just 2% and a critical rating of 10%, the docudrama has not fared well amongst viewers or critics.

The Race Swapping of Cleopatra remains dubious.

In what can only be described as a botched attempt at rewriting history, the program claims that Cleopatra was black, and that the commonly accepted notion she was Greek is based on lies.

In the words of one woman from the series' trailer, "I remember my grandmother saying to me: 'I don't care what they tell you in school. Cleopatra was black.'"

Oh well, if you have solid evidence...

That sentiment is echoed by many of the supposedly great minds on the radical Left, who see nothing wrong with distorting the historical record in the name of social justice.

An article in The New York Times, "Fear of a Black Cleopatra," makes the questionable claim that while Cleopatra maybe wasn't genetically black, she was "culturally black."

Quoting Shelley Haley, a professor emeritus in Africana studies and classics, who should probably have her doctorate revoked, the article asserts:

When we say, in general, that the ancient Egyptians were black and, more specifically, that Cleopatra was black, we claim them as part of a culture and history that has known oppression and triumph, exploitation and survival.

By this logic, the Irish must be black, too, because they also experienced oppression and triumph, exploitation and survival. It brings a whole new meaning to the term "Black Irish," I suppose.

Egypt, which conquered a good portion of the Mediterranean and Northern Africa, wa a culture that knew "oppression" and "exploitation"?

In. What. Sense?

Oh you mean they're black so they must know these things.

Except they weren't black. And also, a black nation that is the preeminent power in its region and conquers other black nations and tribes also would not be "oppressed" or "exploited."

But this is part of the Woke destruction of knowledge and learning: Everything's based on race. History is rewritten to agree with modern leftwing political cant. All blacks everywhere were "oppressed." Because we said so.

And people who weren't black, are now black, because it would be Racist to Deny Us Our Truth, which we intuit through "non-white pathways of Knowing."

And what can "culturally black" possibly mean? They obviously intend to mean "of the black culture in the modern United States." How can that be? We're talking about a Greek-descended queen of Egypt in the years before Christ. Even if she were African -- and she wasn't -- Africans do not have much in common with black Americans.

Just ask them -- they'll tell you.

Pretty sure that Cleopatra's Greek tutors and counselors and fellow nobles did not instill "cultural blackness" into her.
