Tuesday Morning Guest Rant [Joe Mannix]

Identity Creep
When you were in school, did you ever see one of those "Flags of the World" posters in a classroom or hallway? They usually are in a grid with national flags pictured, captioned with the name of the country. This is a very old example of that kind of poster:

There is a new kind of poster apparently making its way into schools. It's the same concept - a grid of flags and captions - but these new posters don't portray national flags. The newer, woker posters portray various identity flags. As posted by a woman on Twitter, the "Identities of the World" poster can be found in at least one Canadian public school, ready to sow confusion and division:
Here's
a link directly to that picture.
This is fascinating for a number of reasons. First, this is extremely confusing. I might not have heard of a specific country or seen its flag before, but I know what a country is and can still interpret the chart. Not so with this. It's baffling. They're all these weird contemporary identity groups, but I have no idea what a lot of them mean. I have to guess or go look it up.
Beyond the baffling confusion this generates, they're grasping for things to fill in the blanks. Two of them are now considered "outdated" (apparently - though who determined that they're "outdated" is beyond me) yet they are included anyway, and there are duplicates. There is a "gay/queer" flag and a "queer" flag. The flags are different, but I have no idea what the distinction is. The "gay/queer" flag - which I think is just the "traditional" pride flag - makes a second appearance and is labeled simply as "original." "Original?" Talk about privilege! And I would ask why there's no "straight" flag or any flag for anything normal to fill in those blanks, but of course we all know the answer to that question.
And there are some bizarre, hyper-specific flags on this chart. It includes "South African Pride" and "Israeli Trans" but no other nationalities are reflected. What makes the South Africans and the Israelis special? Why do they get nation-specific sexual identity groups but other countries don't? Isn't this privileging those countries over others? And then there's the sub-categories that apparently have their own flags. For example, there are flags for "twink" and "bear brotherhood," both of which are subsets of "gay male," which also has a flag and is itself a subset of the "traditional" pride set. Why do they need such specificity for their virtue signals?
This poster is like looking through a window into a bizarre alternate universe. There are esoteric distinctions and new words all over the place, none of which are defined. I read up on some of these that I had never heard of before and it all reads like it was written by the insane. Which, of course, it was. This is all insane, and that is the point of it. That's also why they like public schools for promoting this stuff. Drive them mad when they're young and recruit them into Woke, Inc. early. But don't dare call it "grooming."
The "Flags of the World" was a much better idea than this.
