The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Despite the broad condemnation of Trump for his speech and conduct on that day, there is a difference between what is viewed as reprehensible and what is chargeable as criminal conduct,” Jonathan Turley

Quote II

“It is not advisable to masturbate with Christmas ornaments,” Dr. Sarah Welsh

Quote III

“So the American public has to be protected against the weaponization of our legal system for partisan purposes.” Alan Dershowitz

Another day, another bastion of higher learning demonstrates they are nothing but laughing stock.

WELCOME TO STANFORD KINDERGARTEN
Perhaps you’ve seen the story on the Wall Street Journal editorial page today (or in some other outlet where it is booming this morning) about Stanford University’s “Elimination of Harmful Language Initiative,” which reads like a parody of our idiotic woke university culture today. But no—Stanford employed a task force that worked for months to advocate that no one on campus use the word “American” because “This term often refers to people from the United States only, thereby insinuating that the US is the most important country in the Americas. . .”

Soon little tykes and toddlers will be chanting, Let's Go Brandon!

A shortage of children's pain and flu medication has caused several stores across the country to limit sales. CVS is limiting online and in-store purchases of children's pain relief products to two per customer.

Walgreens is restricting online sales to six over-the-counter children's pain medications per purchase. However, the pharmacy chain said there are no limits on in-store purchases.

"Due to increased demand and various supplier challenges, over-the-counter pediatric fever-reducing products are seeing constraint across the country," Walgreens said in a statement.

So those Roombas aren't so harmless afterall.

Your robot vacuums are watching you — and the resulting imagery of your most private moments can, horrifically, get leaked online.

As the MIT Technology Review reports, the aptly-named company iRobot, behind the uber-popular Roomba vacuums, confirmed that gig workers outside of the US broke a non-disclosure agreement when sharing intimate photos, including one of a woman on the toilet, to social media.

Taking the old saying, "God helps those who help themselves" just a tad too far.

A flashy New York bishop, who was famously robbed earlier this year in the middle of a church service, is now facing federal charges over an ungodly scheme that allegedly included swindling one of his parishioners and extorting a local businessman for his own enrichment, prosecutors revealed on Monday.

Lamor Whitehead, 45, was arrested and charged Monday with several crimes, including wire fraud, extortion, and making false statements, the U.S. Attorney’s Office Southern District of New York announced. If convicted, he faces upwards of 65 years in prison.

Oh yeah, MNF, the Packers won. And Adam Schefter proved he was no jock.

Adam Schefter’s lack of athleticism was on full display Monday night.

The popular ESPN reporter was in Green Bay for the Monday Night Football matchup between the Packers and Rams, and he decided to give the Lambeau Leap his best shot.

How did it go? Well, to Schefter’s credit, he did get at least two or three inches off the ground before fans had to pull him into the stands.

How to decide if an EV is the right vehicle for you.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), with an estimated price tag of $369 billion, has many provisions that make electric vehicles more attractive to motorists, but it’s not going to be the right option for every new car buyer. The public might be wondering whether it is finally time to pull the trigger on an electric vehicle or whether it is better to wait.

While the higher upfront costs of the EVs relative to traditional vehicles might be an initial turnoff, a savvy consumer will be paying more attention to the total cost of vehicle ownership. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, EVs cost about 4 cents less per mile in maintenance costs, as there is no engine oil, timing belt, oxygen sensor, or spark plugs to take care of. Compared to a gasoline vehicle, EVs’ cost of ownership might equal that of a gas vehicle after 5 to 8 years of use even without a subsidy, as suggested by a study published in a leading peer-reviewed journal.

You too can potentially be a millionaire.

Speaking of EVs. The USPS is going all in on those EVs.

USPS expects to only buy electric delivery vehicles starting in 2026
The agency expects to deploy at least 66,000 EVs by the end of 2028.

Times have changed. They really have and I haven't.

Nearly half of Americans age 18 to 29 are living with their parents
The trend to move back in with mom and dad is pushing up discretionary spending

Nearly half of all young adults in the US ages 18 to 29 live with their parents, and this living arrangement is boosting the profits of luxury goods companies, according to Morgan Stanley.

The number of people moving back in with at least one parent spiked in 2020 at the height of the covid-19 pandemic to 49.5%, according to census data. It’s since edged down to 48% last year, but the rate is expected by the bank to remain there for 2022, even as people return to a hybrid work set up.
