The Libertarian candidate in Arizona's senate race has dropped out and endorsed his Republican opponent.
Libertarian senatorial candidate Marc Victor, who was polling at 1% in a New York Times/Siena College poll released Monday, dropped out of the race Tuesday, throwing his weight behind Republican nominee Blake Masters. Masters is facing Democratic incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly in the midterm election.
Of course Fox News links a New York Times poll, which also shows Blake Masters behind... by six.
"I've said from the very beginning that the reason I'm running for senate is to promote and get us in the direction of freedom and peace and civility," Victor said in a YouTube video announcing his endorsement.
Victor said at one point in his video, "[Masters] really is -- in his heart and in his mind -- he's in favor of doing everything he can to get us very sternly, very smartly in the direction of 'live and let live.' And that seems like a good tradeoff to me."
Masters, who sat down with Victor for a 20-minute recorded phone call on Monday, is hoping the competition-turned-endorsement will give him a boost in the polls.
I hate Fox News. I don't even know why I linked that. It's all liberal reporters working hard to show their next employer what good little liberals they are. Fox News has always had garbage leftwing reporters, but management and editors used to ride herd on them and explain to them what a fair and balanced take was.
Now they just let them run wild. It's MSNBC with more leg.
"At my invitation, Blake Masters and I had an unscripted, open, and recorded discussion and exchange of ideas on a variety of issues -- we discussed the economy, taxation, foreign policy, existential threats, education, the Federal Reserve, energy policy, guns, immigration, abortion, the drug war, separation of church and state, same-sex marriage, and euthanasia," Victor released in a statement Tuesday, "I found Blake to be generally supportive of the Live and Let Live Global Peace Movement. Likewise, we found ourselves in general agreement about how to improve America and advance the cause of freedom and peace. After that discussion, I believe it is in the best interests of freedom and peace to withdraw my candidacy and enthusiastically support Blake Masters for United States Senate. I intend to assist in any way reasonably possible to election Blake."
