Of all the many weird things about this situation, and there are so many -- which aren't accurately described, much less answered, here -- the idea that this guy would go to the NYT to clear up questions about his situation has got to be the absolute, hands-down weirdest.
He's a real-life insurrectionist who is in no way a government agent. It's just for some strange reason, the Establishment outlet the New York Times and the FBI's mouthpiece Adam Goldman have some special sympathy for this real-life insurrectionist that they have for no other insurrectionist rotting in the political prisons around Washington, DC.
