Of all the many weird things about this situation, and there are so many -- which aren't accurately described, much less answered, here -- the idea that this guy would go to the NYT to clear up questions about his situation has got to be the absolute, hands-down weirdest.

The fact that an insurrectionist -- a man who insisted that the crowd go "into" the Capitol with such vehemence that others shouted "NO!" and chanted "Fed! Fed! Fed! Fed!" at him -- goes to the New York Times to ask them to defend him, specifically the man at the New York Times who acts as the FBI's press agent, and the Times and Adam Goldman agree to do so, is all I have to know to be 100% certain this man is not a Fed at all.

He's a real-life insurrectionist who is in no way a government agent. It's just for some strange reason, the Establishment outlet the New York Times and the FBI's mouthpiece Adam Goldman have some special sympathy for this real-life insurrectionist that they have for no other insurrectionist rotting in the political prisons around Washington, DC.
