LOL: New York's Corrupt Grand Jury Probe Into Trump's Businesses Set to End... With No Indictments and No Negative Findings

Trump has surprised me in both upside and downside ways.

On the downside, I am very surprised he didn't turn out to have more animal cunning about reading people's motives. I'm surprised he did not fulfill his campaign promise about firing a lot of people.

On the upside, I'm really surprised he's turned out to be so clean, business-wise. This guy is in property development and casinos. You'd think that even an upstanding guy in these businesses would have to have at least some history of working with "New Jersey Garbage Collection Entrepreneurs" and the occasional bribe of an official regarding a zoning matter.

But... apparently not.

And this guy has been endlessly probed. The most corrupt stuff was the stuff we knew from early on-- he had a relationship with David Pecker of the National Inquirer and, supposedly, worked with him to pay off those making allegations and then bury the stories.

And that's not remotely illegal. And that literally happens eight billion times a day. There's an entire profession -- the "fixer" -- that does does this for politicians. It's tolerated. And Democrat fixers routinely get high-paying gigs at media companies. It's even a respected occupation!

The Clintons used to threaten women to keep them from making allegations. Trump, it is alleged, just paid them for the exclusive rights to their stories through a third party, then buried them.

And that's it.

And so, the most investigated man in America is set to walk away from another grand jury with no charges brought against him.

A six-month grand jury convened to hear evidence in the investigation into the business dealings of former President Donald Trump has reportedly ended, and no charges are expected to be filed as the investigation appears to be waning.

Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg recently ceased sending evidence to jurors. Bragg inherited the investigation from his predecessor, Cyrus Vance.

Vance began the investigation following allegations Trump's business lied about the value of its properties. It was alleged the Trump Organization did so for the purposes of leveraging tax breaks and receiving preferential loan treatment.

Already this smells like perfect bullshit. You don't know, as a fact, the value of your property. Your property is worth what you can sell it for, and you don't know what you can sell it for until you put it on the market and solicit bids. (Even then, you might just put it on the market at the wrong time and get a poor evaluation of its real value.)

So they're claiming that when he estimated the value of his properties, he overestimated them.

So they're trying to find evidence to charge him with Guessing Too Optimistically.

Shayna Jacobs, Josh Dawsey and Jonathan O'Connell with the Post reported:
A six-month grand jury that was convened late last year to hear evidence against Donald Trump was set to expire this week, closing a chapter in a lengthy criminal investigation that appears to be fizzling out without charges against the former president, people familiar with matter said.

Meanwhile, the New York Times also reported it appears unlikely Trump will ever be indicted in Manhattan, although Bragg had previously said he would officially announce when the investigation is over.

As of Friday evening, a "war room" where prosecutors had organized their investigation into Trump had been vacated. The Times reported:

Some people close to the inquiry believe that it will not result in an indictment of the former president unless a witness cooperates unexpectedly -- a long shot in an investigation that has been running for more than three years.

The Times added impaneling another grand jury is unlikely, as doing so could make the district attorney's office appear as though it is seeking to find "a more favorable group of jurors."

The line pushed by the left -- and by "The left," I include NeverTrumpers, who are now firmly on the left -- will be, "Yeah, he just consulted with his lawyers to play things as close to the line as possible without actually breaking the law."

Right.

Which is why people consult lawyers, idiots. No one needs to consult a tax attorney to figure out how to overpay one's taxes by 20%.

That was their line with Mueller, right? "Trump consulted his lawyers to figure out how he could be as nonresponsive as possible (to this corrupt, pretextually-started political witchhunt) without violating the law!"

Oh really? Is that how someone being investigated for phantom crimes behaved? He spoke to his lawyers about how he could be the least helpful?

Well color me shocked!
