Tonight I Saw Upon the Stair, An ONT That Wasn't There
Howdy Horde! Boy, another week has gone by, and now we're just 4 days from Valentine's Day. Have you finished buying your gifts?
Not Reading The Room
‘Inspired by Che Guevara and Fidel Castro,’ a New York restaurant missteps in Miami
A New York restaurant modeled after the cafe where Castro and Guevara planned the Cuban revolution is opening in Miami. I can not even conceive how bloody tone deaf one would have to be to think this was a good idea. “Hey, our restaurant whose décor celebrates the bloodthirsty tyrants who terrorized Cuba is doing realy well. Where should we open another one? I know, let's open in the city with the highest population of Cubans who escaped their clutches! Some of them even lost friends and family to his bloody purges! It's a surefire hit!”
Just Deserts
Zhu Yi, figure skater who gave up American citizenship to compete for China, attacked online by Chinese fans after falling during Olympic debut
Fuck Chinese fans. I couldn't care less what they think of her. She failed to make the US team so she turned her coat to compete for China. Turns out she's not good enough to do that either. Probably she will soon “disappear” into a luxury Chinese vacation camp. CNN is aghast US-born figure skater Zhu Yi under attack after fall on Olympic debut for China. Yahoo joins them on the fainting couch Olympians Eileen Gu and Zhu Yi are unfairly caught in the middle of the US and China's geopolitical sniping. Me? I have a different opinion.
It's time we started remembering that being an American is a privilege and treating it as such. I don't even care if it's competing for a friendly nation instead of an enemy one. I was there when my wife and son took the oath of citizenship. The oath starts:
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen;
You want to become an American? Welcome, brother, but don't take the oath unless you mean it.
Simping: Expert Level
Indian officer busted after trading secret info with ‘Pakistani spies’ for nude pics
Obviously a honey trap, but this guy didn't even get laid. With an internet full of porn, he betrayed his country for nudes. Nudes! I swear, I saw a social media post from some girl a while back where she was excited to be flying to meet some guy she met online the week before. Didn't have a dime to her name, but “he said that didn't matter to him”. One reply said “If Ted Bundy was active today, he'd be hitting triple doubles every week”.

Thursday Quiz: What Is This?
Mystery object
Lots of speculation at the link. I think it's a device for spreading ointment on piles, but I leave the floor open for your speculation. What say ye, Horde?

The Most Socially Inept Texts Ever Written By Parents
That's more “victim of auto-cucumber” than “socially inept”, but there are some funny ones at the link.

It's a limo driving up to the West Wing entrance of the White house. Because of forced perspective, the Eisenhower building looks too close, so lots of people are screaming “It's a fake!”. It's not, but sad that we've come to this.
On Being Woke
The Resentment And Fragility Of Anti-Racism
The author gets right up against what, in my opinion, is the hardest challenge when discussing anti-white racism, but doesn't go over the line. That challenge is decrying anti-white racism without lapsing into white supremacy. Racism is racism. ALL racism, and ALL racism is equally deplorable and must be called out. The only way to end racism is to END it. You can't “make up” for racism by endorsing racism against a different group to “even things out”.
Go Out For Harambe!
Bengals dedicating Super Bowl performance to Harambe, the late gorilla, player says
Sunday is Super Sunday. Those of you who care, who are you rooting for? I guess I'm rooting for Cincinnati, but if LA wins I'll be glad for Matthew Stafford. Anyone who toiled in the Detroit salt mines for as long as he did deserves a ring.
Tonight's ONT has been brought to you by The Forgiveness Of Jon:
This is of the genre “Garfield is an Eldritch horror”, which does seem to be an actual thing, I've seen lots of posts on the theme.
