I don't recall how old I was when my parents gave me a Kodak X15 camera. Probably about 9. I loved that little camera. I used it for years and it instilled a love of photography. Ah the smell of opening a package of 126 film. Do you remember the square flash cubes? Ah the good old days.
You can still find the Kodak X15 around. But good luck finding the discontinued 126 film let alone getting it developed. Its hard finding retail outlets who will develop 35mm film.
Growing up I had a friend who got into photography including setting up a dark room in his parent's basement. I still have a couple of his B&W 8"x10" photos somewhere in the photograph totes.
Maybe when we retire we will find homes for all of those photos. I still have a vast collection of photos I took with the X15.
I eventually did buy a really nice Yashica that I used for personal and business use. Then the advent of digital cameras came about and the cell phone. I still have that Yashica and a really nice point and shoot Olympus that I used on my job when I was in crappy conditions.
I know that several Morons are into photography. And one of those Morons is Orangeent. He submitted a number of photographs and it was really hard to select a couple for today's thread.
Black & White Photo: is an interior shot of the Stockton Waterfront Warehouse before it was opened in Stockton, CA.
The photos were all taken with Kodak T100 film and printed on Ilford paper if that's what you meant. All work was done at the school, I don't have any developing gear of my own. Thus, the turn to digital! I don't remember the cam settings but I was using a Pentax K1000 with a couple of different lenses.
Color Photo: The mountain shot is Mt Charleston, I used a Kodak 650

The nice thing about photography is you don't need to spend an arm and a leg for some decent equipment. There are various classes one can attend at vocational schools, clubs, etc. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder anything and everything can be photographed.
There are still a number of great books on the subject of photography as well as YouTube. However, it's a little hard to look at video and operating a camera when you are off grid looking at some beautiful mountain sunset. There are a number of great YouTube videos out there. I won't bore you with them.
Photography as a hobby should be fun and relaxing. It's OK to strive for perfection, but remember, it's a hobby and not a livelihood. As Bob Ross once said, "We don't make mistakes, we have happy little accidents." Not sure if he was talking about painting or parenthood.
I received the following sometime ago from a Moron who didn't provide a nic. So I'm not sure to attribute credit to. But it is a pretty setting.

So tell us about your experience with photography. Are you using digital cameras? Do you still use film? Or are you just a cell phone cam person?
Thank you for stopping by today. If you have some hobby tips, hobby thread ideas or some unwanted cash please send to petmorons at gmail dot com. Next week JJ Sefton will have something up his sleeve. Knowing his love for woodworking let's hope it's not a missing thumb.
