Good afternoon and welcome to the almost world famous Ace of Spades Pet Thread. Where pets are Morons as well. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the world of animals.

I've heard that puppies are chick magnets.

Meet The PetMorons

Hi,

This is Poppy, my new Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Her birthday was 10/13/21, and I got her on the 17th of January.

There’s 3 modes I can photograph her in. Sleeping, barely awake, or full blur mode. Blur mode is a work in progress testing all my skills as a photographer. Until then, this will have to do!

I go by clutch cargo at AoSHQ. Thanks!

You're welcome Clutch. Congrats on your new addition. May Poppy provide you joy and companionship for many, many years.

Here’s Jack, last seen getting his nose nipped by Anna, about 6 months later, doing what he did best: annoying Ugly Joe - John

Oh my that picture is priceless. Jack certainly loves Ugly Joe. He looks mighty comfy on his big buddy. Thanks so much for this today.

Hi MusHum,

I'm pet-sitting for my mom while she takes a vacation.

Teddi the Dog and Abbott the Rabbit have been on the thread before. They're best friends and get along very well. They've figured out how to tag team their humans for t-r-e-a-t-s. If one of them gets a treat, the other sees it and expects one too. They've kept me very busy; I don't know how my mom keeps up with them!

-D, an occasional lurker

What an adorable odd couple. There's nothing like being tag teamed for S-H-N-A-C-K-S. Good luck with your baby sitting project. And thanks for this sweet contribution.

Here’s something maybe a tad different for your pet thread—-which I enjoy immensely. Guess the breed. For your information it’s a rare hunting breed with but a couple hundred in North America. The Picardy Spaniel originates in the Picardy region of France, ground zero for two world wars and thus their scarcity. This dog, Philly, has been trained in conformance with North American Hunting Dog Association standards and has tested to a Prize I. The first pic below is Phil studying for the test. The other pics see him in his favorite environment, pointing a pheasant and then being released to hunt a field. This dog, and really a breed characteristic, is very biddable (trainable), affectionate and possessed of great stamina and energy. He can sit still in a duck blind in the morning retrieving downed birds in the water and hunt pheasant in the fields all afternoon finding, pointing and retrieving birds….which he has done. Thus, the versatility of the breed and the cross training necessary to enjoy his talents.

Regards
7man

We normally don't show 2 photos of one pet. However, we are suckers for Sporting Breed dogs especially ones we have never heard of. Sounds like the perfect hunting companion. Drop me us a line and let us know where you got this beautiful doggeh.

This is Mikita, she’s a five year old Lab-Boxer mutt and Linus, he’s eleven years old and rules the roost. We rescued both at six weeks of age. As you can see life is hard. - Marty

Hard? Heck that's one big understatement, don't you think Horde. It appears the Lion can lay down with the Lamb. Thanks for sharing today.

Sashi.jpg

Princess.jpg

Hi MisHum: Thank you for all your postings at Ace of Spades HQ, particularly the Pet Thread. My daughter always wanted to show off her two white cats. Unfortunately, they both crossed the bridge last year within two months of each other.

The smaller cat in the first picture is Sashi, who came to us from my brother-in-law who was moving from Florida to California, traveling on Interstate 10. He stopped in Houston and left us Sashi, claiming he would come back to get her. That was 10 years ago!!

The larger cat in the suitcase is Princess. She is a pound cat so we don’t know how old she was. She loved suitcases, although she never left the house! I bet she would have gone on to California on I-10.

Thanks for all you do on AoSHQ. I’m occasional poster Jayhawkone.

What beautiful cats! So sorry to hear that they have passed on. It sounds like they had a wonderful home life. And thank you for your kind words.

This is Ginger, a golden retriever/chow mix that we picked up about 9 years ago from Cheri Lucas' "Second Chance at Love" no-kill facility. We went to look at a different dog, who wasn't a fit with our (then) young kids, but Ginger stole our hearts and came home with us. She had just received training from one of Caesar Milan's assistants but had been placed there by someone having to move to a no-pets facility. She has been the best dog for us, and I wanted to share this zen picture of her that I call "The Sound of One Tongue Lapping."

She took the move from warm but socialist California to freedom-loving Idaho just fine despite the colder winters.

I would prefer this go under the name of "ID_Gent" instead of my real name. Thanks for all the pet pictures and stories.

We are happy to use a "nic" instead of your real name Rudy, J/K. Quite the pose there. Was it an easy sitting for Ginger? Every kid deserves a pet growing up. Glad you could do that. Thanks for sharing.

MisHum,

This is Saint, our site mascot, circa 1977, from when I was stationed at Detachment 4, 1stCEVG in Bann Germany. He's about 4 or 5 years old in this photo. He's in a tizzy because someone has just started up the vacuum cleaner off camera, the moment I took the picture.

Considering he had about 50 different masters at the same time, which changed every two years as people shipped in and out, he was a well adjusted dog. He just didn't like vacuum cleaners. Evidently somebody teased him when he was a pup.

Thanks, That Guy What Always Says Yeah Buddy

Thanks for going back in time to submit this photo. It's amazing how dogs will react to a vacuum cleaner. Some love it, believe it or not and others hate them.

What a great group of pets and stories today. Thank you all for taking the time to share with us. If you have something pet and/or animal related, you can send to us here at petmorons at gmail dot com.

God willing and the creeks don't rise we'll see you next Saturday. Have a great week!
