The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Gun safety is a Department of Justice priority and we will continue to take all appropriate steps to help reduce the number of people killed and injured by the misuse of firearms.” Attorney General Merrick Garland

Because we don't have enough laws on the books. If you really wanted to stop the misuse of firearms you would have every DA in the country charging offenders with every charge they could. And you would have every judge throw away the key with gun offenders.

This is just another law to hamper one's freedom to bear arms.

Quote II

“It’s such an unfortunate reality that will have to co-exist with selfish behavior at the expense of someone’s life,” City of Durham councilman Leonardo Williams

Just spit ballin' here, but my guess is a person who cannot legally own a firearm was responsible.

Quote III

America has literally lost the plot. On the last soundstage, all parts are interchangeable: Men become women, and the grizzled butch coaches of college athletics can't wait to put 'em on the ladies' track team. Women become men, and then pregnant men, and then threaten the hospital for the humiliation of having to give birth in a "maternity ward". Mark Steyn

Quote IV

“I guess I should have been at the beach in Delaware. They would have been really happy about that,” Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida)

It's unfortunate that the sleazy left has to politicize everything. The Governor made a vow to his wife, for better or worse, in sickness and health. From the outside looking in. He looks like a good husband.

I guess this Board of Directors didn't do their job. 'Former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes Found Guilty of Fraud and Conspiracy'

Theranos’ board members were a who’s who of political and military power players, including former U.S. Secretaries of State George Schultz and Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, former Secretary of Defense William Perry, former U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sam Nunn, former Navy admiral Gary Roughead, and former Defense Secretary and four-star general James Mattis, all of whom sang Holmes’ praises before her fall from grace.

As Carreyrou explained in his book Bad Blood, these board members were “men with sterling, larger-than-life reputations who gave Theranos a stamp of legitimacy. The common denominator between all of them was that, like Shultz, they were fellows at the Hoover Institution.”

First it was Twitter, now it's Face Book. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene suspended. I bet if she were a Rep with D-GA) or any other state she would not be suspended. It isn't what you say, it is who says it.

Greene’s post included a screenshot appearing to show that she would be prohibited from posting or commenting from her Facebook account for a period of 24 hours for violating the platform’s policy against misinformation — a characterization she disputed.

“Who appointed Twitter and Facebook to be the authorities of information and misinformation?” she wrote. “When Big Tech decides what political speech of elected Members is accepted and what’s not then they are working against our government and against the interest of our people.”

If and when the GOP holds both the executive and legislative branches, Twitter, Face Book and the rest of social media should be reigned in.

If Greene's suspension doesn't upset you. Perhaps this Face Book action will upset you.

Facebook has "permanently disabled" the ads account of a conservative children's book publisher, claiming that Heroes of Liberty – which has published books about Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, former President Ronald Reagan and author Thomas Sowell – violated the company's rules against "Low Quality or Disruptive Content." Facebook originally locked the ads account on Dec. 23, and after Heroes of Liberty appealed the ruling, the company permanently disabled the account.

"The question is: is a children's biography of Ronald Reagan no longer permissible on Facebook? We don’t know. But apparently promoting one may well kill a business," Heroes of Liberty editor and board member Bethany Mandel told FOX Business on Sunday.

"We began investing in Facebook four months before we launched our first book," she added. "We invested most of our marketing budget on the platform, and now our budget (the money we’ve already spent), as well as our assets and data are gone. Marketing-wise we are back in square one, financially it's even more challenging."

If the following was Tweeted would its author be suspended?

Fourth Covid jabs should not be offered until there is more evidence, the head of Britain's vaccine body has said - as he warned that giving boosters to people every six months was “not sustainable”.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Professor Sir Andrew Pollard, chairman of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), said “we need to target the vulnerable” in future, rather than giving boosters to all over-12s.

Sir Andrew said there was no point in trying to stop all infections, and that “at some point, society has to open up”.

He also suggested that “misinformation” about the risks of the AstraZeneca vaccine - espoused by European leaders including Emmanuel Macron, France’s president, and Angela Merkel, former leader of Germany - was “highly likely” to have cost lives in Africa

Hmmm. Life Insurance CEO Says Deaths Up 40% Among Those Aged 18-64

The increase represents "huge, huge numbers," among "primarily working-age people" who have employer-sponsored group life plans through OneAmerica, according to The Center Square.

"And what we saw just in third quarter, we’re seeing it continue into fourth quarter, is that death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic," Davison said during an online news conference last week. "Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a three-sigma or a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic."

"So 40% is just unheard of," he added.

Government schools, nothing but the best for our little buggers.

Reading, writing and ratios.

An error-laden letter from a Virginia teachers union calling for more protections against the coronavirus has gone viral on Twitter.

Startled by a slew of linguistic gaffes, an Arlington parent took a correction pen to the piece and posted the aftermath online.

“Hey @VEA4Kids, are you going to send out more of these grammar worksheets over break?” the poster quipped derisively. “My kids and I had a great time spotting errors! Did we find them all?”

Unions. What are they good for?

I guess last night's, Today's Quotes of The Day has effected Andy Cohen's employment. CNN says "Buh-bye" Andy.

ANDY Cohen is apparently out of the New Year's Eve business, after admittedly having a bit too much to drink on this year's CNN special, and making some controversial statements.

The Bravo host has comically welcomed in the new year alongside CNN anchor Anderson Cooper since 2017.

The rules of the men's room here at the AoSHQ have changed once again.

ATLANTA, GA—In a surprise move that may mark the end of the pandemic, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has announced recommendations allowing men to safely use the urinal right next to another guy’s urinal.

CDC Director Dr. Rachel Walensky said, “This dramatic easing of urinal-centric restrictions comes at the conclusion of an 18-month observational study in which I surreptitiously observed men using urinals in malls, gas stations, and rest stops across the country. The accumulated data indicates leaving an empty urinal in between two men is no longer required.”

Go ahead and convert every automobile to electric. If you don't have the infrastructure for them what use are they?

Last year was challenging for many reasons, but 2021 wasn't entirely bad. Despite the pandemic and the chip shortage, it was a great year for new battery electric vehicles. So much so that more than half of our top 10 drives of the year were BEVs. That's good for consumers looking for a new car—assuming they can find one in stock.

End-of-year top 10 lists are extremely subjective, and no one should read too much into them. But if you want proof of the impending extinction of the internal combustion engine, consider this: On December 23, Hyundai Motor Group (parent company of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis) shuttered its internal combustion engine research and development division, according to The Korea Economic Daily.

I peruse multiple sites to bring The ONT. I don't think I've ever seen a story such as this. And that being said, Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Nebraska Town Sues Resident to Stop Sending Officials Letters, Ends Up Paying Him $16,000

"[N]early every public official draws the attention of critics and cranks who have opinions they insist on sharing.... But rather than accept that as one of the privileges of public service, the defendants decided to pursue a lawsuit that asked a state court to impose a prior restraint on the plaintiff's speech."

An Ord man has agreed to a $16,000 settlement with the central Nebraska town that filed a lawsuit against him last year in an attempt to get him to stop writing letters and emails to city officials and the police department that they called "burdensome."

And from Judge John Gerrard in Brock v. City of Ord (D. Neb. Sept. 17, 2021), in the opinion denying the city's motion to dismiss the First Amendment retaliation claim (and denying qualified immunity):
