Donald Trump, America First Policy Institute to File a Class Action Lawsuit Against FaceBook, Google, and Twitter Over Censorship

Can't wait for the Google- and Facebook-sponsored National Review to weigh in.

I never know what side they're going to come down on!!! They bewilder me with their incorruptible personal morality and free-thinking, open-minded ways!!!

The lawsuit will also name the CEOs of the three tech companies being targeted as defendants, adding another layer to the story. Trump mentions that the lawsuit will be seeking to prove that things like political censorship and shadowbanning run afoul of the Constitution.

Whether this has any chance of success will have to be a question answered by people more knowledgeable. My layman's understanding of the law surrounding the internet and the freedom of sites to essentially do as they wish in curating content doesn't give me much confidence the lawsuit will turn out well for Trump. With that said, I also think someone needs to push this issue and find out where the actual boundaries are.

I will level one critique of this move, though. Trump was president for four years. He promised action against big tech multiple times, including via executive action that he could have done without any help from Congress. To be frank, this was a battle that Trump should have fought while in office. That he waited until becoming a private citizen to simply file a lawsuit strikes me as a bit of a letdown and more show than substance.

Indeed. Trump made declarations and demands on Twitter, usually with exclamation points, but did very little IRL. In fact, were Trump on the left, you'd call him a practitioner of Slacktivism-- a lazy man's method of "activism" requiring only a few minutes per day of social media agitation, with barely any work on the physical plane of existence.

I know that the response is, "But his underlings refused to carry out his orders," and there's truth in that -- which means you have to work harder to keep your eyes on them and ride shotgun on them until they take the action you want.

"Unable to make his subordinates carry out his agenda" is not really a terrific excuse for chronic inaction. Yes, it's true, but that's merely another way of describing the problem, not a way of rebutting the existence of the problem.

In any event, I do hope that something good comes out of this, at least something like documentation of the Tech Cartel conspiring with each other to make sure they all have the same censorship policies directed at the same people.

Trump mentioned Ashli Babbit's killer, and claimed he knows who it is.

I doubt the "know" part. I think he's referencing the speculation floated at The Spectator that the shooter was part of Mike Pence's Secret Service detachment, which is quite possible, but I don't know if anyone "knows" that, outside the others who were present (and who are keeping the shooter's ID top secret from the public).

This c***sucker poses as a patriot as he censors patriots.

To those who think this isn't getting the attention of Facebook, etc., I simply draw your attention to Zuck on an electric surfboard, with an American flag. To quote Monty Python: "you aren't fooling anyone, you know".
