Saturday Afternoon Checkers (And Any Other Games You Like) Thread

Apparently there is a large and vibrant checkers-playing world out there that is independent of kids playing each other or grandpa having some fun with the grand-kids.

Most games that aren't obviously random have strategies that will maximize one's chances to win, and I assume that checkers is no different. So it shouldn't surprise me that they have tournaments! Hell, Man competes at pretty much everything...it's part of what makes us human.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, politicians used to have to try to court the voters by connecting with them on a personal level...with a cute dog, or the claim that their wives wore "good Republican cloth coats."

Is that still legal in hockey? The recent imbroglio between the Rangers and the Capitols was embarrassing on e very level. Maybe it's time for professional sports to complete the transition to a corporate sideshow used as advertising opportunities and completely insulated from the regular fans.
