First-World Problems...Part 11111
That's a flour sack dish towel, and they are great.* Very thin, but amazingly absorbent, and they are lint free, so drying nice glasses isn't an exercise in futility. Having a stack of them, ready to at a moment's notice to wipe up and dry and polish and all sorts of things that kitchens require is a useful thing.
And CHEAP! Stupidly cheap. Made in Pakistan, which doesn't fill me with glee, but they aren't going to get rich on their tea towel industry.
When they get too ratty for the kitchen I will retire them to the work bench where they will do yeoman's work cleaning my guns.
But...it's not square. It's not rectangular. It isn't even a parallelogram. It's a damned trapezoid, and that disturbs my obsessive-compulsive desire for order and symmetry. At a deep and very basic level. I guess I could take them to a tailor and have them recut and re-hemmed so they can be folded into neat shapes like good American towels. or I could fold them at an angle to hide the lopsidedness. But I would know, especially at night, when the house is quiet, and they would call out to me with their non-right-angles and their lumpy folds...whispering and mocking and polluting the other squared-off towels and sheets.
I think I will keep them in the gun safe, just to be sure.
