The Morning Report - 8/12/20

Good morning, kids. Hump Day, for real! IYKWIMAITYD! The big story is Joe Biden picking Kamala Harris to be his running mate. We've got all kinds of in-depth analysis and commentary from around the web from such luminaries as Daniel Greenfield, Michael Goodwin and Stephen Kruiser, to name but a few. As for my own take, Harris is probably the worst pick possible. For Biden and the Democrats, not us. But Biden - that is to say his handlers; Biden himself is rapidly approaching muttering-derelict-in-the-subway stage - painted themselves into this corner by insisting the pick would be black and female. All of the potential picks in that category came with all sorts of baggage that Team Trump would have raked them over the coals for, but Harris is far and away the worst of the lot. From Stephen Kruiser:

...What's problematic for Harris is that the people who have the most problems with her records are the very progressives she seeks to secure as her base.

A Capitol Hill friend of mine joked that Harris on the ticket might put California in play for the Republicans, which serves as a humorous segue to the next point here.

Conventional wisdom dictates that the out-of-power party's nominee choose a running mate that can deliver votes from a part of the country that the candidate needs. Spoiler alert: California's electoral votes were already Biden's...

Let us not forget that Harris is available for this gig because she was the biggest flop of the "top tier" (her words) candidates to have to leave the race (no, Beto was never top tier)... She's one of those people and candidates who don't really grow on people the more they get to know her. Like Hillary Clinton...

Other huge things that will sink her down to Luca Brasi-level in New York Bay:
- her attacks on Joe Biden as being, if not a racist himself, then an apologist for and friend of Dixiecrat segregationists in Congress early in his political career in the Senate
- her tough on crime record as San Francisco DA and California AG which will not go over will with a party that is now not only not tough on crime but seeks to decriminalize it and abolish police forces.
- playing the role of Tomas Torquemada during the disgusting character assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings.
- her persecution via prosecution of David Daleidin, the brave dictionary-definition undercover journalist who exposed the Planned Parenthood abattoirs.
- her less than stellar ability as a debater

And so on, and so on, and scoobie doobie doobie. Kruiser's point about picking a candidate that could perhaps help deliver a swing state is really worth remembering. Every blue commie shit hole, especially California, is going to vote Biden anyway. Then again, are there any far-left black female Maoists who are eligible to run in places like PA, FL, OH and WI anyway? Alopecia Pressley? Then again, she's not exactly going to deliver middle American swing voters, is she? But do the Democrats even give a shit about them anyway?

From my perspective, had they not committed to a black woman (or perhaps been blackmailed [no pun] into one by the likes of Mikvah Waters), the strongest candidate in the field - that is the one that came off as the most sane of the lot - was Tulsi Gabbard. She's intelligent, a good debater who utterly destroyed Harris early on, served in the military and at least is able to fake being someone who will compromise. And aside from the Drake's Coffeecake complexion, she is attractive for what that's worth. But given the nature of today's Democrat Party, all of those reasons made her persona non grata from the get-go. If that weren't enough, she went after Hillary in the debates and so her career going forward is dead in the water. And all things considered, she's damn lucky it's her career.

Still, the one niggling (racist!) thought is, taken all together, I'm conjuring up the image of Max Bialystock turning to Leo Bloom, panic-stricken. "How could this happen? I was so careful. I picked the wrong play, the wrong director, the wrong cast. Where did I go right?!"

Actually, the only thing that does concern me is Mail-In Voting. That is the only thing that has the potential to successfully sabotage Trump. Even still, despite the Burning Looting and Murdering, the forced lockdowns and all the other bullshit hurled at us, I think somehow we will prevail. The Kamala Harris pick confirms this. Of course, YMMV.

Along with the continued Dresdenization of Portland, Chicago, Seattle and other Democrat-Socialist paradises on earth, the DC Circuit disgustingly is not going to leave General Mike Flynn alone, the sidelining of Fauci for Scott Atlas and the caving of Dems in allowing schools to open are good signs, VP Pence to hit the campaign trail in Wisconsin during the Dem convention, Chi-Coms crackdown in HK continues with the arrest of Democracy activist and publisher Jimmy Lai, an horrific story out of North Carolina that will not get any press coverage, the Angel-of-Death and DeBolshevik may have actually accomplished the impossible and destroyed New York City forever, and lots of other things worthy of your time.
