EMT 6/7/20
Good Lord, but that krakatoa can be a dick, amiright?
5: Happy Sunday!
1: I don't hate all cops. Not by a long shot. I do hate that almost all cops will circle wagon around their asshole brethren, either out of cowardice, or laziness, or complicity. I will not apologize for my contempt of authority figures who hold "civilians" in contempt as a habit. And I despise that cops are generally immune to any civil or criminal consequence for actions that would have most non-police citizens arrested and financially ruined, innocent or not. That there is a recipe for corruption that has been fully baked and served at this point.
Look, I get it. People want to defend those in their tribe. But a Man will do what is right, even if it implicates his best friend, even if it threatens his livelihood.
If you don't practice an ethical code of honor, you are a tool of corruption. What is the functional difference between a cop who won't give up another corrupt cop, and a street hood who won't rat out another hood?
And for those who missed the point in my rant (and it was a rant so my point was probably easily missed): I'm not asking for someone else to fill in the gaps if the cops become totally irrelevant. I'm warning that if the cops no longer exist in any official sense, we go back to the rope and the tree. Personally, I have plenty of both.
Nobody wants that, right?
2: Yes, the perps have been arraigned in front of the Grand Jury, and are facing hard time, albeit in a justice system whose wheels are in desperate need of greasing. No particular thanks to the detective in charge of my case, nor to the original ADA that was counting down the hours to his retirement. I have strong suspicion one of the perps was a CI, which explains much of the initial reticence.
3: My deepest apologies inRe not giving a shit to conservatives in blue cities. To clarify what was a very off the cuff statement, I don't have any problem if you have weighed the cost/benefit properly, and it makes sense for you to stay. I tire of those that claim they had "no other possible choice" than to stay, and start up the "woe is me, whatever shall I do?" circus. There is always a choice, and you should always own the decision you have made.
4: Even when I post content on an EMT, I couldn't care less if the comments go OT. So have at it Vic, or anyone else. There's much more interesting stuff going on in the world than whatever thoughts I might occasionally post.
