The Borking Of The Conservative World Continues: Pedophile Senator Puts Brakes On Nomination Of A Qualified Candidate for U.S. Agency For Global Media (VOA)
There are so many things that stink about this situation, but the one that stands out is the involvement of the senior senator from the People's Republic of New Jersey. That Menendez isn't in jail, much less still a senator is a testament to the stupidity of the NJ electorate. But the fact that he wields enough power to delay a senate confirmation vote is troubling. Ace's recent criticism of Mitch McConnell seems prescient...if he won't push this nomination through to a vote, then what good is he really doing?
Trump pick to run Global Media agency under investigation over nonprofit dealings
A person familiar with the proceedings who supports Pack said that Democrats, in supporting the probe by D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine, are doing exactly what they accuse Republicans of with Bill Barr in the Michael Flynn case -- "weaponizing an attorney general" general for political purposes. The official said Pack is a “threat to the status quo” at Voice of America.
Michael Pack's nonprofit, Public Media Lab, gave $775,000 to his production company in 2018 and had no other significant expenditures.
A source close to the nomination told Fox News that Pack "never once hesitated to respond honestly openly and thoroughly" to questions from the Senate committee and maintained that Pack's actions have been aboveboard.
"This is obviously politically motivated and it is unfortunate he is trying to undermine the process to get the necessary leadership over to this agency," the source said of Menendez.
Notice what I bolded? That's the real story. The Democrats want VOA to remain as much a progressive mouthpiece as possible, and will smear and lie and obfuscate and delay to get what they want. This is exactly the reason why the executive should have broad power to hire and fire, and the extension of senate oversight into almost every employment decision is troubling. Yes, Article II, section 2 the Constitution is clear about advice and consent for ambassadors and the SCOTUS and such, but there is far too much meddling in the function of the executive branch, and it must end. At what level should the president be free to sculpt his administration as he sees fit? Does Congress have oversight over the folks who clean the bathrooms at the department of agriculture?
The legislative branch has ceded so much authority to the executive in so many areas, yet they use their constitutional authority in this one area to impede the function of the executive. One can only assume that is because of the ease with which they can exercise their authority, instead of the more tedious and difficult business of legislating. There are certainly ample opportunities for self-aggrandizement during a splashy and contentious nomination battle, but very little exposure during their real jobs. It's as if they have their own agendas that are counter to America's best interests. But they wear American Flag lapel pins, so it couldn't be that!
