Michael Bloomberg: You Can Teach Any Moron How to Farm
How to make friends and influence people: dwarf tyrant edition.
Farming (and factory work) doesn't require much "grey matter," the pint-sized plutocrat opined.
Democratic presidential candidate and billionaire media mogul Michael Bloomberg suggested during a 2016 talk that farming and factory work require less "gray matter" than modern technology jobs.
"I could teach anybody, even people in this room, no offense intended, to be a farmer," Bloomberg told the audience at the Distinguished Speakers Series at the University of Oxford Saïd Business School. "It's a process. You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn."
Bill Clinton promised a lot of "high tech jobs" that you'd need skills an a higher education to perform. And that you'd therefore make more money.
Sometime in the nineties, maybe around 2000, Time (IIRC) reported that this promise was false. In fact, almost all "high tech jobs" were just factory jobs, building, for example, a graphics chip. This was straight assembly-line fabrication, albeit fabrication conducted in a clean room.
They were not high-skilled jobs. They were low-skilled jobs. Just jobs you did with a tweezers and small soldering iron instead of a hammer and welder.
And they therefore paid no more than any other factory job.
I just think it's interesting that Mr. Grey Matter over here is still living in Bill Clinton's "Information Superhighway Bridge to the Future" campaign speeches.
Bloomberg's making friends all over:
Oh, the campaign ads that are a-comin':
Bloomberg has also decided to go after Bernie Sanders' most passionate "Bernie Bros" supporters, wrapping them around Sanders' neck.
