Devin Nunes: The GOP Will Call Adam Schiff as Its First Witness at "Impeachment" Hearings
Fact witnesses and conspirators have important testimony.
On Monday evening with Sean Hannity, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, confirmed that House Republicans will call Rep. Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, as their first witness in the Democrats' impeachment inquiry.
"Will [Schiff] be subpoenaed?" Hannity asked.
"Only Adam Schiff can subpoena Adam Schiff, but there’s a precedent for this." Nunes explained, but added, "But, remember, last Congress, they were hellbent on making sure that former Congressman Dana Rohrabacher testified. I said, ‘Look, I don’t think this is a very good idea to turn around and have members of Congress come and testify and give depositions.' So, congratulations Democrats that were on the House Intelligence Committee--that’s now become the impeachment committee--they have set the precedent for members of Congress to give depositions and so you heard the Minority leader the Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy, say that Schiff is our first witness. You’ve had John Ratcliffe, a former U.S. attorney in Congress, say Adam Schiff is our first witness. So, yes, he, in fact, is going to be our first witness that we are going to ask to come and give a deposition."
Meanwhile, the attorney for the alleged whistleblower, Eric Ciaramella, continues to tell his media contacts that it's "illegal" to reveal the name of the whistleblower, which is of course false. There are very few laws that state that information cannot be revealed -- even the Espionage Act does not forbid the publishing of secret information, but only the transmission of such information to unauthorized persons.
But once it's out there, media can publish it. There are quite a few Supreme Court decisions to this effect -- see the Pentagon Papers case, for one, which protected the press from government prior restraint about publishing secret leaks about our history in Vietnam.
But the media doesn't know the most basic things about their own profession.
They see things on their phone, on twitter, and immediately call this Verified Fact.
Rand Paul tries to explain this to a dimwit ignoramus Twitter casualty:
It should also be noted that Mark Zaid, the attorney for the alleged whisteblower, Eric Ciaramella, has a history himself of threatening to call his Deep State IC/LEO friends to illegally use government resources to dig up dirt on critics.
Mark Zaid should be called as a witness, too. Not about his client the fake whistleblower -- he would claim privilege -- but about Adam Schiff's contacts with him before he took on the client (which are not privileged) and also about his contacts in the Deep State who he says are willing to break the law to do favors for brutish partisans such as himself.
By the way, here's Drudge. AllahPundit had to learn it from one of his liberal sources that actual conservatives stopped going to his site three years ago.
