Unexpectedly, Trump's Threats of Tariffs Against Mexico Spurs Mexico to Start Cracking Down on Illegal Migrants
Neocons are in favor of ALL THE WARS, except threats of trade wars, which they vow we can never win.
Plus, a trade war could result in a loss of money for business and mercantile interests, which is completely unacceptable.
On the other hand, American boys' lives are pretty cheap.
Anyway, Mexico is now cracking down on the Mexican cottage industry of waypoints and smuggling infrastructure between Central America and into the United States.
It was one of several raids here last week to sweep up migrants, part of a broad Mexican crackdown against the surge of Central Americans and others streaming toward the United States. In recent weeks, the Mexican authorities have been breaking up migrant caravans and setting up round-the-clock roadblocks along common routes north.
Detentions and deportations in Mexico are multiplying quickly, sowing fear among the many thousands of Central Americans and others crowding the migrant shelters and budget hotels here in southern Mexico, most of them hoping to reach the American border.
The Mexican government has been under intense pressure from President Trump to block the tens of thousands of undocumented migrants trudging north each month. With the American authorities unable to stop illegal immigration into the United States, Mr. Trump has taken aim at countries in the region -- including Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, the origins of most of the migration -- threatening punishment unless they to do more.
The new president Obredor had laid off on deporting illegal migrants back to their home countries. He had deported 37% fewer than his predecessor and admitted that this was causing illegal aliens to consider Mexico "welcoming" for those intending to steal across the US border.
However, the saber-rattling is producing a new willingness to enforce its own laws:
In April, nearly 15,000 migrants were deported by Mexico, up from about 9,100 in March, according to government statistics. The monthly tally climbed even higher in May. Over the last two months, the Lopez Obrador administration deported 67 percent more migrants than its predecessor did during the same period in 2018.
On the downside, we're all going to starve to death.
It astonishes me that that the deposed Neocon establishment is willing to lay down the lives of thousands of US troops to guarantee Iraq's territorial integrity but won't lay down one fat nickel per burrito to defend America's.
Who are the religious conservatives, again? Because I detect some people possessed of an irrational, dogmatic zealotry, and it's not the Christian coalition.
