Mississippi Senate Results
Here's PBS' count. I mean, we're all paying for PBS. Might as well use it for something.
Only 2% of the vote is in. Do not lose your chill just because Espy is slightly ahead. You don't have to even begin worrying until about 66% of the vote is in, and even then, there can be huge changes still to come. (Florida had a lot of movement towards the end of the account, if I remember right.)
538 says that the Democrat Espy would need an "unprecedented swing" in voter preference to upset the Republican Hyde-Smith. There's only a run-off because Hyde-Smith didn't get to 50+%, and the reason she didn't get to 50% is that there was another Republican in the race, Chris McDaniel.
Together, the two Republicans won just under 58%. So... about 42% of the public voted for the Democrat. Is he suddenly going to gain 8 points?
