Journalists or Activists? CNN, Which Admitted They Were Responsible for Getting Alex Jones Deplatformed from YouTube, Apple, and FaceBook, Now Admits It's Also Pressuring Twitter to Deplatform Him

I thought I read something about journalists having the missing of reporting the news, not making it themselves.

Or: of journalists being neutral reporters, not partisan activists.

But here is CNN openly bragging that it's searching Alex Jones' twitter feed for potentially deplatformable tweets and "helpfully" bringing them to Twitter's attention.

It's not just that post -- Nick Monroe has a whole thread of CNN openly campaigning, as the partisan operation Media Matters does, to pressure Twitter into reversing its decision to not ban Alex Jones.

For example:

But there's a lot more.

Remember, CNN does this all the time, and they know that negative media coverage can bully other corporations into bending to its partisan will. They publicized the shit out of Roseanne Barr's tweet, for example.

They let ABC know that if they didn't fire Barr, they would keep filing story after repetitive story to say things like "Six days later, and ABC still hasn't fired Roseanne Barr."

But when did they report on James Gunn's tweets?

They didn't -- not until ABC/Disney had already fired him. They didn't want him fired, him being an out and loud liberal like CNN is made up of, so they let ABC know, "You don't have to fire him -- we'll contain the story for you so that no one really knows about it."

But they're a neutral news-gathering operation, right?

By the way, on this point: Our "Conservative" Betters keep lecturing us that we are not to pressure corporations into firing people. Or, when a corporation fires a Roseanne Barr, we are not pressure them not to fire them.

To inflict social media pressure on a poor defenseless trillion dollar corporation would be to abridge their free speech rights and their property rights.

They keep scolding conservatives, and conservatives only, to never question or pressure a corporation with negative press into changing their Holy Corporate Papal Bulls.

Strangely, they seem entirely uninterested in scolding leftists to stop pressuring corporations.

Anyone think David French will take CNN to task for infringing on poor Twitter's corporate decision-making?

No -- more and more, they support and applaud anti-free-speech decisions when pressured by leftists. It's only conservatives they scold for daring to criticize a trillion-dollar corporation's speech decisions.

So here's the thing. Twitter decided not to deplatform Alex Jones. One of the few social media companies which said, at least in this instance, they would not bow to social media pressure.

Did French and Co. congratulate them for standing up to outrage-mob pressure when applied from the left?

Of course not. And yet they applaud these companies for bowing to pressure from the left; they only want to stiffen these companies' spines from bowing to conservative pressure.

But it gets worse. If their "principles" dictate that one must never pressure a corporation to make a speech decision-- that companies must always be defended whatever their Corporate Papal Bulls might turn out to be -- you'd think that if the left began pressuring Twitter to reverse its decision to not deplatform Jones-- that is, to pressure them into deplatforming him when they already decided they wouldn't -- then French, Goldberg, Shapiro, et al. would begin criticizing the left for attempting to bully a poor defenseless corporation.

After all -- their Sacred Principles dictate that the defend corporations from right-wing pressure; if these are principles, rather than self-interested partisan stances of easy convenience, French, Goldberg, Shapiro et al. should also chide the left for such pressure tactics.

And the left did in fact pressure Twitter. In fact, not only did "the left" apply pressure, but reporters from the Racist New York Times applied pressure -- surely a more potent threat of abridging a corporation's free speech rights than the usual pressure you get from thirty conservative twitter-users/bloggers.

And yet...? None of these guys is scolding leftists for doing the same thing they call intellectual thuggery akin to Stalinism when their Enemies on the Right do it.

There's a term for people who excoriate behavior when performed by conservatives but excuse/defend/ignore it when leftists do the same damn thing: we call them "leftist partisans."

To recap:

Corporations are holy entities who shall not be made subject to even criticism by mere citizens. They are keen of telling us, ad nauseam, that corporations have their own free speech rights; but they sort of forget the part where citizens have speech rights as well, and are permitted (well, so far) to use their own free speech rights to criticize the decisions of others, including Holy Corporations.

They keep instructing us that for mere citizens to criticize corporations is to unfairly pressure them and thereby diminish a Holy Corporations' free speech rights. They forget to note that this same logic, applied to their own bullying/scolding, would suggest that they're somehow taking way our free speech rights when they criticize us.

When conservatives do this, the #FakeConservatives are Johnny-On-The-Spot about scolding them, insulting them, and accusing them of essentially being Socialists.

But when leftists do the same thing, the #FakeConservatives say absolutely nothing at all -- or actively support the leftist effort and join the left in enforcing a caste system in which leftists have all the rights and privileges of speech, and conservatives have nearly none at all, or only what our leftist masters are kind enough to permit.

#ClownPrinciples ON,
#ClownPrinciples OFF.

Update: As Lizzy says, this isn't about Alex Jones -- this is about establishing the war-plan as valid so that they can deploy it against The Daily Caller, and then just move on to the next targets.

Certain "conservatives" know, or think they know, that they are immune from this as they have shown their leftist overlords that they can be counted on as good allies in eliminating the left's enemies and the nominal right's competitors.

More: El Kabong disagrees about the order of purging:

Disagree. I think this is still in the beta-test stages, so you have to go after targets that everyone (ie, the Cruiseservatives) can sort of agree are awful.

Next are people who use a lot of social media, but don't belong to any sort of company or organization. People like Mike Cernovich, Lauren Southern, Jack Posobiec, etc.

After that...maybe Breitbart.

Yes, I think he's right. But then, after that: The Daily Caller. Me.

The Federalist, obviously -- the #FakeConservatives are all obsessed with destroying that Deplorable upstart.

Pretty much anyone who has not bowed to the left and sworn their allegiance.
