Paging Writer-for-Racist-Website David French: Looks Like You're Going to Have to Pen Another Screed Defending the Left's Censorship

Only after sustained complaint from conservatives has FaceBook relented and admitted, Whoops, look like we jumped the gun and banned another conservative message by "accident." Boy, is our face red.

Funny how these mistakes only tend in a single direction.

And note that without the social pressure applied against FaceBook, they would have remained firm in their initial decision to censor.

And note that David French, Jonah Goldberg, Ben Shapiro et al. all criticize conservatives when they apply such social pressure to reverse the censorial decisions provoked by leftwing social pressure.

All these fine defenders of Free Speech enjoy lecturing conservatives to never, ever pressure a corporate entity to stop censoring people, whereas they have precious little to say about the left's pressure campaigns.

At least, they have nothing to say about such campaigns until those campaigns threaten them, or their friends, like Bari Weiss and Kevin Williamson.

Only then do they decide that it's appropriate and right to apply counter-pressure to undo the censorious left's victories in stamping out conservative speech.

One begins to suspect that just perhaps they view many of the left's enemies as their own enemies, and are glad of the chance to tacitly support the left's censorship campaigns in their own petty squabbles and fights for positioning.

Hey, if they help the left destroy their rivals for control of the conservative movement, they'll get to own their ineffectual, progressivism-validating controlled opposition party back again. They won't actually be able to advance any conservative goals, but that was never their game in the first place: this has always just been a money-making hustle. As long as they're on top of the movement, it doesn't matter if the movement is simply a pretend-opposition. They're still on top of it and makin' bank.

So, as long as Mssrs. Shapiro, French, Goldberg, and Williamson, and their dear friend Bari Weiss aren't the target of these campaigns: bow to your corporate overlords and just accept that leftwing censorship is organic and good, and rightwing counter-censorship is vicious harassment of poor defenseless monopolistic many-billion-dollar corporations.

Oh, and by the way, the predicted Next Phase is already here. Check out Vox's headline, that the "most extreme" YouTubers are forcing YouTube to ban them next.

Oh, and Candace Owens is apparently one of those "most extreme" creators.

Who are you going to believe? The censorious thought-controlling monopolistic trillion dollar corporate left which is plainly telling you what their endgame is, or their leftwing-validation-craving weaking apologists on the nominal right who keep saying "Don't listen to what they're saying or look at what they're doing; trust us, they're good people. They've promised they'll leave us and Bari Weiss alone. And, when you think about it, isn't it only our speech that really matters? All you lot do is grunt and say Trumpish nonsense."

I'm reminded of Hitler's apologists in the West who kept reassuring everyone that while he pretended to be power-mad totalitarian, Hitler was really a practical-minded chap with whom Business Could Be Done.

Oh, and I'd call this "leftwing" propaganda, but we're all sadly aware that this is by no means a belief confined to the hard left. The corporate class of fake conservatives believe this as well:

Though, when they find out that the tech companies are now also censoring Candace Owens and Kim Strassel, I don't think they'll see that as a problem -- I think they'll see it as a bonus.

They'll aid and abet the left's purge campaign against real conservatives until they're the only ones permitted on social media. And then they "win" the party back, whatever is left of it.
