One Flu Over the ONT
Hi gang. Since my nose has been going crazy the past few days, I've gone through lots of tissues. Not as many as this woman, however.
A.I.
So, does anyone play the Civilization series of games? I confess I am a big fan, I don't like to contemplate just how much time I've spent building my imaginary world. IMO Civ V was the pinnacle of the series, I just don't like Civ VI nearly as much. In any event, here's something interesting that I came across the other day:
How the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk’s Civ V mod should make us fear superintelligent AI
It seems that someone designed a mod that replaced the normal science victory – send a spaceship to Alpha Centari- with a new one where you have to develop a functioning A.I. Be warned though, if you don't take the time to develop AI Security while you're at it, well....
In any event, it looks like a fun mod for Civ fanatics or for those fascinated with AI. There's a link at the link where you can find the mod.

Police are investigating a car crash that killed a zebra near the grounds of an ostrich festival in a suburb of Phoenix.
Phoenix? Sounds like Florida to me. Meanwhile, in Florida:

WHEEL! OF! JEWISH FOOD!
Ummmmm. Now I want deli...
Y'know, if I could only have 1 food for breakfast for the rest of my life, it would be a toasted onion bagel with cream cheese, sliced tomato and lox. Perfection in the morning.

Scientists unravel the mystery of the Roman 'gate to hell'
Rome was definitely my favorite stop in Europe. I didn't get to see this death temple (not least because it's in Turkey), but I saw SO. MUCH. in Rome. And there is still SO. MUCH. MORE. to see. Still, interesting article about ancients taking advantage of processes they didn't understand.

Well, not really. The WSJ Op-Ed page has always been a lot less liberal than the rest of the media, but still...
