The Morning Report 2/20/18

Good morning kids. Let's dive right in. The politicization of the massacre in Florida as a pretext to disarm the American citizenry proceeds as per the usual script, but this time the diatribes are more shrill than ever, if that's possible. The reason, as with most everything hurled at us via the Media lo these past many months boils down to pretty much one thing - Donald Trump. Yes, he has given some lip service to strengthening existing background checks but his correctly identifying both the abject incompetence of the FBI and more importantly the glaring mental health crisis that is at the heart of these shootings. More importantly, his leadership is putting steel into the spine of many people (the majority in the GOP notwithstanding) including Florida's own teacher of the year, who will no doubt suffer character assassination from the Democrat-Media complex and more crucially perhaps career backlash from her employers for serious wrong-think.

Rush had some interesting analysis and he's spot on. He dug up a soundbite from Wayne LaPierre dating back to 2000, when he was on some Sunday show after a school shooting and essentially said that President Bill Clinton was comfortable with a certain amount of gun violence because he and the Democrat party needed it as a campaign issue. Boom. And really, isn't that also the story of racism/civil rights? It's almost as if if the issue were actually solved, they'd all be out of a job.

Moving along, the Russian collusion narrative has all but collapsed like a wet blini, but still they persist. As I said yesterday, they have to. They're not in business to report facts as impartially as possible. They are there to lie, obfuscate and propagandize. And President Trump has exposed this con gusto.

On the political front, as both the President's popularity rises as well as the popularity of his Tax Reform, the Democrats prospects for 2018 are not jibing with the predictions of a massive blue wave, despite the rather crappy news from Pennsylvania vis a vis its Supreme Court agreeing to an horrendous redistricting. Smucker's is the latest corporation to announce bonuses for employees as well as an increase in charitable contributions (hopefully not to the usual leftist front groups posing as charities), tariffs are reviving a moribund US solar panel industry, the President is tackling high drug prices and so on.

From hither and yon, Hillary Clinton fanboi and Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is warning about US interference in Syria while Israeli countermeasures to increased Iranian bellicosity might be signaling that war is imminent (in point of fact, Iran is technically in a state of war with Israel). Meanwhile, as Venezuela circles the drain, Nicholas Maduro is threatening to crash the Summit of the Americas, despite lacking an invitation.

Last but not least, I invite you gentle reader to compare and contrast the lives, intellects and contributions of Justice Clarence Thomas and LeBron James. While slag-cum-typist Jill Abramson drags Justice Thomas through the mud for the umpteenth time, Laura Ingraham is being denounced as a racist for daring to correctly label James as a high school dropout lacking any gravitas at all to criticize the President's policies. Yes, "shut up and dribble" is - you guessed it - racist. It's amazing; every single time that when the Left has absolutely nothing with which to refute an argument, their only response is to threaten violence, as was the case with some talking puppet/actress vis a vis Ingraham. In any case, LeBron James is hell bent on making the NBA the next NFL. Winning.
