The Morning Report 1/26/18
Good morning kids. The weekend has arrived so let's get to the linkages. First up, some of the details of President Trump's DACA/Immigration proposals were leaked yesterday, well ahead of Mondays official rollout. The boss covered this last night so I'm not going to get into an analysis at the granular level but try and give you my overall gut feelings and observations. Each side of the issue has already issued its own proclamation of displeasure, the Left as is their wont flinging obscenities and not-so-thinly-veiled threats of violence at the President and at those in the Democrat leadership that they are labeling as traitors.
Looking at the latter, historically they tend to behave as hostage-takers because they know that the GOP will always a) accept their premises on any given issue and b) offer something that concedes ground and moves the country ever leftward, the pace of that drift being the only variable. Never do the Left accede to giving back that which they have extorted and/or stolen.
As for our side, for the first time we have a President that has been able to frame the debate, control the message and exposed the Democrats as the one's out of touch with the will of a large majority of American people. To the latter point, it was the ability of the President to finally break through decades of Lefty propaganda and expose the dangers of open borders to the preservation of our society and identity.
So with that preamble, is what the President offering good for the nation in the long term? From what I can see of some of these nuts and bolts, I'm not so sanguine. Like in immigration deals past, we yet again seem to be giving away the hamburger in expectation of being paid next Tuesday. From link #4:
In negotiation theory, one of the most basic mistakes is to bid against oneself. The Trump White House seems to have made that error, establishing 1.8 million "DREAMers" as a new anchor, a new minimum target for amnesty.
The other little nugget that I heard yesterday is that the $25 billion for wall funding will be kept in some sort of trust fund and will not be able to be accessed for a period of years (please correct me if I'm wrong; I don't feel like searching). Well, we all know Congress' and the Democrats fealty to the rule of law when it comes to trust funds (see: Social Security). And let us not forget that the people the President has to deal with to negotiate this deal are total RINOs like Graham and Cornyn. Nuff said. Now, some have postulated that the President is gambling that the Democrats will reject this bill anyway and it will give him the high ground from which to allow DACA to die anyway. Despite his continued outmaneuvering and spanking of the Democrats when it looked as if he was selling us out, this may be a bridge too far.
Let's remember this: whatever deal is made, even if it is generally to our advantage, the Democrats will never give up on Amnesty and open borders. The party thrives when people are in misery. In order for them to achieve a permanent lock on power, they need to import as many poor, illiterate peasants as possible and register them as Democrats. Whatever recognizably American that still remains of our society, culture, heritage and national identity will be consumed and lost forever. I hope and pray the Donald Trump realizes this. I'm pretty sure people like Tom Cotton and Stephen Miller do. I do not want to deal with Democrats; I want to defeat them and render them as powerless to influence and steer the nation's future as much as possible. For me, the only "comprehensive reform" I want in immigration is the full enforcement of our laws, the severe punishing of any individual or company who breaks them, the cutting off of all benefits to illegal aliens and the phasing out of bilingualism in both the pubic sector.
If the Democrat Left can make demands that serve to destroy this country as founded, surely I am within my rights (and my sanity) to demand just the opposite - especially now that I have President who was elected by millions of people who feel the same way. And that comment is aimed right at the GOP.
Moving right along, we have some developments in the Insurrection front. Chuck Grassley has revealed that some of the FBI texts clearly indicate that the agency was intentionally throwing the case against Hillary Clinton, Slim's Slimes is reporting that PDT wanted to fire Mueller last June but decided against it and Dutch intelligence agents have come forward to claim that they infiltrated the Russian hackers site before they broke into the DNC's servers.
Meanwhile, the President is in Davos and he is, as Rush state, being given the rock star treatment, contrary to what the Media thought and hoped would happen.
Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.
