The Morning Report 12/28/17
Good morning kids. The computer is back up and running so let's get on with the show before it winks out again. Up front, a new and very extensive report has been published entitled "Mapping the Swamp" by the watchdog group Open the Books. Ironically, it's only 35 pages long but the revelations about just how insanely profligate, wasteful and corrupt our government is goes beyond anything even I had ever imagined. From the IBD editorial:
The report even suggests that the government has an unofficial minimum wage: $100,000 a year. That's the minimum average salary for 78 out of 122 federal departments and agencies, although some individuals make less. Even so, the report notes, "29,852 federal employees out-earned each of the 50 state governors receiving more than $190,823." It used to be people went into government to do good. Now, apparently, it's to do well.
In Insurrection news, a couple of links including the subpoenaing of a McCain flunky to the House Intel Committee to answer questions about the Pee-Pee Gate "dossier" as well as another excellent outing from Horde favorite Daniel Greenfield as he rips into Leftist hack Eric Schneiderman, AG of the Empire State, who has openly declared it his mission to use the law as a means to sabotage, if not overthrow, President Trump.
It's no wonder; among the President's many accomplishments in not quite his first year has been, along with the seating of originalist justice Neil Gorsuch to the SCOTUS, dozens of similar appointees have been seated in lower courts across the country. This could be a major body blow to the Democrat Leftist movement for several decades to come, since that movement relies heavily on the courts to advance its agenda, or that is to say hack Leftists in black robes posing as judges to advance its agenda. Hence the follow on piece where still-seated hacks are now reluctant to retire and yield their seats to any PDT picks.
During an interview about his latest endeavor, director Ridley Scott was asked about the Trump Tax Bill and instead of spouting the usual Leftist pablum, Scott approved of the bill in terms that would've made Rush or Levin proud. I suppose Scott is at that level where he doesn't have to lie to protect his career. Good for him. Further down are two related links, one about blue states' hypocritically bashing Federal Tax Refrom while having similar laws on their own books and a thoughtful essay from City Journal about the implications of tax reform on the indoctrination centers masquerading as public universities.
While yesterday's bombing of a St. Petersburg, Russia supermarket has yet to produce a suspect, it should be noted that that city was an Islamic terror target in the past as is Russia in general, considering some of its former republics are either wholly or predominantly Muslim. Somewhat related, a man named Alexei Navalny must be jonesing for a polonium-tini; he has run in the past against Vladimir Putin, seeking yet another 6-year term as Russia's prexy, and was running again before the Moscow wing of the Democrat National Committee decided to disqualify him. He's now calling for massive protests ahead of the vote.
From hither and yon, a point-counterpoint about the decimation of ISIS by PDT and yet reports of reluctance to go after them in Assad territory, and lastly, from the Day-Ending-in-"Y" Department, an unhinged freak who has weaponized chalk and a blackboard is essentially demanding his students engage in the violent overthrow of the United States. I will leave it to your imagination, gentle reader, as to my own opinion of the deviant in question and the appropriate disposition of same.
Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.
