The Morning Report 12/5/17

eatmebehar.jpg

Good morning kids. The top story today continues to the be the continuing insanity of the Mueller "investigation" which, with the Torquemada-ing of Michael Flynn has officially morphed from trying to find/fabricate evidence of "collusion" into a political witch hunt into "obstruction." The ultimate goal, though, remains the same to overthrow a wholly legitimate election to impeach the President and subvert the will of the American people. I don't think we need another spy agency to fight the Deep State; I just think we need to defang, defund and destroy it by removing the miscreants infecting the bureaucracy - after the wholesale elimination of at least 50% of the lot.

Andy McCarthy's lead piece lays it all out in detail, and for those keen on listening to Rush Limbaugh gradually morph into Mark Levin, yesterday he went on an extended tear about this entire sham. For nearly 20 minutes it seemed as if he didn't take a breath and you can almost hear the veins start bulging in his neck. As an aside, he noted that the influx of Puerto Ricans dislocated from last summer's hurricane might have the effect of permanently turing Florida Democrat which perhaps by 2020 could politically mean that if Democrats once again control Congress, impeachment and then conviction and removal from office could be a distinct possibility. I don't know about the latter, but Florida has been teetering for several cycles and PDT winning it the last go round was crucial. If we lose that state we have trouble in River City going forward vis a vis presidential elections.

In other news, as the smear against Roy Moore evaporates, the candidate is pulling away and will more than likely pull out a win. Yes, I know that another "victim" has stepped forward. But with less than a week to go, I expect nothing less from the smear merchants. In any case, the GOP has waved the white flag and is now once again backing the candidate and the President has issued a formal announcement endorsing him.

Now that the tax bill has cleared both the Senate and the House, it heads for a conference committee to reconcile both bills into one. From a practical standpoint, sure it's a disappointment and there are sops to "soaking the rich" and other chunks gristle in it. But from a political standpoint, it would be a huge win for the President, especially after a year of obstruction and even open revolt from his (supposed) own party. In any case, Nancy Pelosi declared it to be the equivalent of the Holocaust, Armageddon and Slavery combined. So, I suppose that beyond the typical knee-jerk hyperbole, maybe with that kind of ringing endorsement, there might actually be some good things in it that can really ignite an economic boom. And Nancy, you might want to keep a little bit of rhetoric in reserve as the President's next target is welfare reform. Still not tired of winning.

In judicial news, the SCOTUS completely reinstated the President's travel ban, and as one Hordester quipped, we can expect the Judge in Hawaii to announce any moment that the Supreme Court is null and void, and hereby dissolved. Also, a very important case is being heard this week dealing with a Colorado bakery refusing to make a cake for a homosexual wedding. Interesting enough, friend of the court brief was filed on behalf of the bakers by the Foundation for Moral Law, an advocacy group started by - you guessed it - Roy Moore. Stay tuned for that.

Also of note are a couple of good pieces about the proposed merger between CVS and Aetna Insurance. While "disruption," that is the wholesale upending of business models, seems to be all the rage in corporate America, perhaps this sort of thing can help shake up the healthcare industry in a good way; especially if we can somehow get rid of Obamacare, even just the mandates.

Lastly, a decision is expected soon whether or not the US will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel. The President is expected to give the green light for it, which is sure to cause heads to explode around the world, if not bombs.

And that about covers mostly all the bases. Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.
