The monumental dumbness of this just hits you in the face like a brick. Does he realize what he's just said? Doesn't he know that what he just said could've been written by Benito Mussolini? It's just fascism, straight up. He can't see this? How can anyone be this ignorant?

According to his Twitter profile, Matthew J Dowd is a "chief political analyst" at ABC News. Oh, and he's also a "proud independent" (stop laughing).

Fortunately, most of the replies are hammering him pretty hard, which is fun. His response?

Uh, Matt? That is actually *not* correct. Our Republic was founded on the principles of individual liberty and religious freedom.

What I want to know is, how does a man this ignorant get to be "chief political analyst" at ABC News? I don't think he's qualified to teach a junior high school civics class.

Lastly, I'd point out how this just shows that progressives are drawn to fascism like alcoholics to booze, but that would be mean.
