Saturday Afternoon Chess/Open Thread 05-20-2017
My Apologies For This Abbreviated Thread
The latter half of this week arrived with a perfect storm of stuff for me: Mrs. Muse arriving back after being gone for a week, above-the-norm commitments for Saturday, and I seem to have come down with a lovely case of prostatitis. For which the doctors have me on a 2-week course of Cipro. I just don't feel up to much right now. Fortunately, the book thread was mostly done before I started feeling like crap, so there's that.
Hopefully, I'll be back to normal next week.
And not to worry, all you 'ettes, there's some dress pr0n below the fold.
Problem 1 - White To Play (482)
Hint: White can win material
8/p7/1pkprrp1/2pR1p1p/2P2P2/1P1Qq3/P2R2PP/5K2 w - - 0 1
Problem 2 - White To Play (BWTC 172)
Hint: White can mate in at most 4 moves
r1b1qrk1/2pp1ppp/pb1n1Bn1/1p6/3PPQN1/1BP5/PP3PPP/RN3RK1 w - - 0 1
And Now, Dress Pr0n!
Here are some "mother of the bride" type dresses:
By the way, I hope all you 'ettes appreciate the tremendous sacrifices I make on your behalf: thanks to my scouring the internetz for dress pr0n for the last couple of weeks, my Microsoft Edge browser is now filled with all sorts of dress and ladies' fashion ads. You'd think that I was a bit light in the loafers, IYKWIMAITYD.

Note: that cryptic line of letters and numbers you see underneath each board diagram is a representation of the position in what is known as "Forsyth-Edwards Notation", or F.E.N. It's actually readable by humans. Most computer applications nowadays can read FEN, so those of you who may want to study the position, you can copy the line of FEN and paste into your chess app and it should automatically recreate the position on its display board. Or, Windows users can just "triple click" on it and the entire line will be highlighted so you can copy and past it into your chess app.
