I first heard this beautiful melody and song when I was a little kid, when my father would tell me about hearing it in France in the 1950s...Latin with a French accent! It also was the start of my lifelong jealousy of the music of Christianity.
One of the many pleasures of AoSHQ is the unabashed love of religion and God that some of you express. It is a testament to our host, who seems to be a confirmed agnostic or perhaps even an atheist, that he welcomes everyone, in stark contrast to some of the roughly equivalent sites run by the left. And while we mix it up in the comments, the respect shown for others' religions is impressive. Sure, there are fits and starts, but except for The God That Failed, in the main, all are respected.
But in one aspect, Christianity -- both Catholic and Protestant -- have an unassailable advantage over Judaism: the music! And below the fold is for me a glorious example of that music, and how God works through man...
