The whistleblower in Attorney General Letitia James' office who said he was ordered to dig up dirt on President Trump met with federal prosecutors for "several hours" Tuesday, sources said.

Daniel Wiesenfeld, a former Brooklyn prosecutor and a lawyer in James' office, had a lengthy sit-down with both criminal and civil attorneys from the FBI and the US Department of Justice over his bombshell claims, the sources told The Post.

The extent of the feds' interest in the case is unclear.

I bet I can name one top-ranking fed who is very interested in this, and his opinion carries more weight than most others'.

Wiesenfeld, who has been placed on paid administrative leave, claimed in a since-deleted Friday email to colleagues that was leaked to the Times-Union that his boss, Investor Protection Bureau Chief Shamiso Maswoswe, instructed him "to find and pursue crimes" by Trump allies.

"If you believe Trump is using the [Department of Justice] attorneys to prosecute his enemies to further his political interests, you should find it equally troubling that Tish [James] is doing exactly the same thing," the email allegedly said.

In a statement this week, James' office called the scandal "a personnel matter."

However, the Trump administration this week fired back at James in a scathing statement.

"This is more proof of the weaponization of the justice system by Letitia James to target President Trump and her political opponents," White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis said. "The far-left Democrats' lawfare against President Trump, his family must stop."

Cisneros suffers from what her brother described to The Post Tuesday as bipolar disorder, but said she'd been receiving treatment in recent years and "never showed any aggressiveness."

"I don't know what happened," Patrick Peralta, 59, said, adding his sister had found some stability through medication in recent years and reported feeling "fine" as recently as Saturday.

Cisneros, of Queens, had a documented mental health history with police, including a suicide attempt.

She then continued up to 42nd Street and seconds later fatally stabbed Piacenti -- a vice president at Bank of America who had just returned from maternity leave.

I don't blame the mom for this stupid objection. When your child is killed, you're going to spin out reasons why this was unfair and why cops should have just let your innocent baby stab as many people as she could before she got all tuckered out and took a nap.

I mean, it's a tough thing to process. I get that. A child is the most important thing in the world to a parent, and many would trade other people's lives for their child's.

Fine.

But society, of course, can definitely not trade innocent people's lives, including those of cops, for the lives of crazed violent killers.

So while I can excuse the mother's stupid babblings, I do not excuse the ambulance-chasing racists of the tribal left, who take cases like this and blow them up into national crises, with the eager assistance of the traitor media.

We'll see if the corrupt Soros Manhattan DA, Alvin Bragg, prosecutes the cops like he prosecuted Daniel Perry.
