All I Want For Christmas is MUH GAINZZZ
See, I thought it was the fact that men have more testosterone (a muscle-building hormone) than women (except for Brianx Stelter), but it turns out that it's because society imposes limitations on women which in turn fill them with a False Consciousness of Not Being Huge and thus keeps them from SUPERIOR GAINZZZ.
Meanwhile, a new study finds, get this, that red meat is good for you.
Eating more red meat does NOT hurt your heart: New study insists larger portions of beef and pork can actually be GOOD for blood pressure
...
Red meat has been condemned as a cancer-causing, blood pressure-raising no-no.
Indeed, nutritional guidelines in both the UK and the US advise eating no more than 70g of beef, pork, or steak per day.
But a new review of clinical trials from Purdue University has found quite the opposite.
According to the study, eating more than the recommended daily amount of red meat does not affect short-term heart disease risk factors, such as blood pressure and blood cholesterol.
...
The recommendations to limit red meat from the diet come mainly from studies that look at the dietary habits of people with cardiovascular disease.
Although these studies showed these people typically ate red meat, they were not designed to show that red meat caused cardiovascular disease.
Previous studies were looking at people who already had markers for heart disease, and were not well-designed to prove the connection between red meat and markers of heart disease. This new study probed that crucial link of causation.
...
'We found that consuming more than half a serving per day of red meat, which is equivalent to a 3 ounce serving three times per week, did not worsen blood pressure and blood total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglyceride concentrations, which are commonly screened by health-care providers,' O'Connor said.
My own GAINZZZ: Well, I wanted a more accurate guage of bodyfat so I went to the hospital a month ago to get a reading. It wasn't the super-accurate (and super-expensive) DEXA or water-displacement method, just another electrical impedance measure which, assumedly, is more accurate than my scale.
Anyway, I got one reading a month ago, and a second a week ago, to see a trend. Lost five pounds of actual fat while gaining two of muscle over three weeks.
Mind you, it's not just diet; I'm doing a lot of exercise too.
Also mind you, I'm not dead-set certain this measurement is terribly accurate either.
To reward myself, I immediately reverted to old eating habits and therefore have no further gains this week. In fact, I may have gained a half-pound of fat back.
I put off doing this thread in the hopes that getting back on-regime would give me an actual GAINZZZ for this week, but no, not really. Though I am back in ketosis, at least.
So:
Tell me about yo GAINZZZ, brahs.
