Obama Intended to Pass Anti-Israel Measure at UN; Netanyahu Called Trump; Trump Tweeted Against the Measure; The Measure Has Been Withdrawn
Update: Obama Abstains, Letting Measure Pass
Wow, so much antisemitism from the guy with the Jewish son-in-law and more Jewish mannerisms than Jackie Mason.
The United States intended to allow the U.N. Security Council to approve a resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlement building, two Western officials said on Thursday, a major reversal of U.S. practice, which prompted Israel to ask President-elect Donald Trump to apply pressure.
In a day of intense diplomatic wrangling on one of the thorniest Middle East conflicts, Egypt, which had proposed the draft resolution, abruptly put off a vote that had been scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Diplomats said Cairo had acted under pressure from Israel and to avoid alienating Trump, who spoke to the Egyptian president and urged the White House to use its veto.
Meanwhile, Obama and the Democrats generally -- who conceive of themselves as the new aristocracy, and who have adopted the British aristocratic tradition of genteel antisemitism -- are never accused of what they're obviously guilty of.
Update: Although Egypt withdrew the motion, four other Security Council measures forced the motion to be considered.
As Obama initially planned, the US disgraced itself by abstaining from the vote, permitting it to pass, rather than vetoing it.
President Obama allowed a resolution condemning Israeli settlement construction in disputed Palestinian territory to pass through the United Nations Security Council, marking a dramatic change in U.S. policy just weeks before leaving office.
The U.S. did not go so far as to vote for the resolution, but allowed it to pass by abstaining from the vote after decades of vetoing such proposals at the Security Council. Obama ordered the veto of a similar resolution in 2011, but his administration has grown increasingly critical of the settlements in the past year and frustrated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, which the Obama team sees as partially responsible for the failure of recent Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., called Obama's decision "absolutely shameful" in a statement released after the vote, and looked toward the future Trump administration to "reverse the damage done" to the U.S.-Israel relationship by Obama.
This fucking guy didn't have the balls to do this (he vetoed previous efforts at the same condemnation) when he was actively seeking votes. Now this rotten c*** is three weeks from permanent retirement -- now he decides to let his freak flag fly.
