Reuters Reports That Terrorist Who Murdered Russian Ambassador Was An Off-Duty Police Officer
Reuters reports that:
The gunman who shot the Russian ambassador to Turkey in an attack at an art gallery on Monday was an off-duty police officer who worked in the Turkish capital, two security sources told Reuters.
Turkey is becoming, in fits and starts, a thoroughly Islamist country. They are allied with the anti-Assad forces in Syria, in direct confrontation with the Russians, who support the government of Bashar al-Assad.
As many have pointed out, Russia does not take kindly to the murder of its representatives, as a Lebanese terrorist faction (an offshoot of the MB) found out to its chagrin in the 1980s. The Islamic Liberation Organization kidnapped four Soviet diplomats, and the Russians promptly took family of the terrorists hostage, and reportedly sent the testicles of one to the terrorists as a warning.
It worked.
