Nice article that covers the determined rejection of reality that so many in academia worship, and make no mistake, leftism is a religion for these people. A bunch of folks who decided that they were too "smart” to believe in any of that hoary old claptrap that preserved knowledge throughout the dark ages, promulgated the Enlightenment and ultimately produced modern Western civilization, within whose bosom they so comfortably reside. Like a metastasizing tumor, they will surely kill their host if left unchecked. I'm not sure if I still believe that we will be able to purge this cancer from our society, baring a major societal collapse of some sort, economic or perhaps through a national divorce as in Kurt Schlicter's new book People's Republic. I read it over the weekend, and I find it terrifying (not least because I live in the Blue) and all too plausible.
This is why I can't take Libertarians seriously. I want to. I should. They certainly can't be worse than either of the two major parties. I'm most of the way there, I self-identify as a “Conservatarian”, but if it isn't featuring a guy in a diaper on stage at their convention or supporters who are most interested in marinating their brain cells in as much THC as humanly possible than running the country, it's crap like this:
After Johnson’s recent brain freeze, his running mate Bill Weld went on to cite Germany’s Angela Merkel worthy of admiration,...her efforts to resolve the Syrian refugee crisis are a wonderful example of what a restrained foreign policy might look like in practice.
National suicide is not a platform plank I can get behind. Neither is (BIRM) dhimmitude.
Wisconsin's John Doe witch hunt is over. For now. Maybe. Alexthechick is really good on this subject on the last podcast she did with some other guy (I forget his name) Drift Compatible Podcast 10-04
Be careful about trying too many of these at once, however.

Drugs
This is such a sad story. Pennsylvania couple found dead from suspected drug overdoses after 7-year-old daughter alerts school. OD deaths seem to be on an upswing. Check that, it's approaching epidemic proportions. I saw a sign just the other day outside the State Police barracks in suburban/rural Harford County Maryland that listed county wide OD deaths and car crash deaths so far this year. OD deaths were several times those from automobiles. I guess if you demonize a population long enough, obliterate all of their cultural cornerstones and destroy their economic future, well, they may just turn to drugs for escape. It seems to me that this might be a fertile ground for conservatives to campaign on, and not just the usual “lock 'em up!” stuff. Rob Portman, that most RINOey of RINOS, is doing so quite successfully in Ohio. In a year when many Republican Senators are running scared, he is 10 points up in the polls.
The cornerstone of conservative philosophy is that people are individuals, and must be treated as such. They are not their race, their sex organs, their religion or their sexual preferences. If we forget that, we have ceded that vast majority of the playing field to the left. They've got the ball, 1st and goal on our one yard line before we even start the game. Never, never, never, NEVER fail to challenge the premise when arguing with them or you're doomed.
