Word Love Thread: Nautical and Aeronautical Terminology, Jargon, and Expressions
Also: Trivia and wisdom. Like, "red skies at night." That kind of thing.
I don't know whether to include "weather" in this. I think weather can be its own post, but I also sort of think sailing and flying are so weather-influenced that it's going to be hard to keep weather out.
Well, let's try this: Try to keep weather out of it, unless it's a sailor or pilot specific bit of slang for a weather type. Maybe that will work.
Imma be a spectator for almost all of this: I know nothing about either, but I am keen to pick up as many words as you guys have in your repertoires.
The only word I know is "Latin rigged" and I don't know what that is except that it's a kind of simple rigging that, I'm gonna guess, was favored by the Romans.
