Something Nice: Community Honors Its Fallen Hero [Y-not]
The other cobloggers will be along shortly, I'm sure, but in the meantime here's a fresh thread.
One (stupid, imho) theory is that the Islamic terrorists in San Bernardino were triggered to violence by a Christmas holiday party. Well, if that's the case I'm in big trouble because I'm finding that my fellow Kentuckians celebrate Christmas in a big -- and unapologetic -- way. Seems like every small town around here has a Christmas parade this weekend.
Meanwhile, in the town of Richmond, Kentucky (a town of 32,000 near Lexington) they're using this year's parade to honor a fallen officer who was killed in the line of duty last month:
Katie and Luke Ellis, the wife and son of Officer Ellis, are going to be the grand marshals of the Christmas parade tonight. The two will be riding in a horse drawn carriage with Richmond Police Chief Larry Brock.
Officers said that people in the community decorated a Christmas Tree with all the officers' names and badge numbers, Officer Ellis' name being at the top.
Nice.
How do the communities where you live celebrate the Christmas season?
