FAQ: Ace, You've Done a Good Job This Week. You Should Knock Off Early. Question Mark...? »

Today Is Juneteenth
I knew Blacks celebrated Juneteenth, but I did not know what it was.
I had a guess -- I guessed it was the traditional start of debutante balls in those sort of monied middle class black enclaves in Savannah or places like that. You know, like in Tyler Perry movies.
Nope, completely wrong. Hey, I don't know everything. Yet.
Juneteenth is black independence day, the day when the last remaining slaves in America were formally freed in Texas, June 19, 1865. Apparently, word of the Confederacy's defeat reached some parts of Texas slowly (due to Texas geography).
So I finally know that now.
To all of our black readers, and all Partisans of Liberty of any color, and to, um, Rachel Dolezal too (sure why not), Happy Juneteenth!
