Early Night Open Thread

I have no excuses except I was up with the cock's crow at the first tentative dawnlight of 10am.

Here are some articles I mean to read, and maybe you'd like to:

Cathy Young on why it seems unlikely that Emma Sulkowicz is telling the truth about her rape.

Vanity Fair writes about the fall and fall and fall and fall of erstwhile gay power couple Chris Hughes and Sean Eldridge, who have been persuasively documented as the worst couple since Eva Braun and Adolph Hitler.

Meanwhile, AllahPundit notes superhawk Mario Rubio's attempt to put the tiniest bit of reserve into his hawkish agenda, while ultrahawk Lindsay Graham, perhaps admirably (if not wisely) attempts no moderation at all.

I have a grudging respect for Graham's candor here, and his words, echoing a speech that Churchill gave to American grade-schoolers in 1946: You are the soldiers and nurses of the next war. And there will be a next war. There always has been one before.

Of course, Britain did not want to hear that hard truth in 1946. Churchill was of course turned out of power just after he led Britain to victory in the war.
