Tony Stewart Runs Over and Kills Fellow Driver In Race
This article suggests reasons to doubt that this was intentional.
Early reports, and video of the deadly run-down (content warning) at Deadspin.
If you don't want to watch the video, here's about what happened: Stewart and another driver, Ward, got into some jockeying for position and Ward's car wound up spinning out and hitting the wall.
Ward exited the car and began walking (dangerously!) across the track, apparently looking for Stewart's car to come around again. As Stewart approached him, Ward stopped in the middle of the track and pointed at Stewart to call him out, to accuse him of something or to just curse him and challenge him.
At this point Stewart's car runs down and kills Ward. I don't want to speculate whether Stewart tried to run him down, or didn't attempt to swerve out of the way, or tried to miss Ward but failed, because I have no idea whatsoever about steering a racecar.
Thanks to the cobs.
