Hey We Should Really Pass That Cornyn-Cuellar Compromise, STAT

One of the provisions of that was that children would either be granted asylum or scheduled for deportation within ten days.

That's supposed to signal that we're getting serious about border control.

But what if they just stocked the ranks of the judges with soft-touches on asylum? And just granted it to 90% of all who asked for it?

What a ridiculous right wing conspiracy theory, eh?

From February, when, unknown to most of us, the border situation was hitting crisis levels:

Judge who oversees juvenile immigration docket is replaced

by DIANNE SOLÍS

A Dallas immigration judge known for tough enforcement is no longer handling cases involving minors.

...

Local immigration attorneys said the change could reduce tension and add flexibility to cases involving children and teenagers....

Calls to the two judges were referred to Kathryn Mattingly, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review. She said they would not comment on the change but added her office "may shift docket assignments to best meet the needs of the agency."

The number of court cases involving adult and juvenile immigrants continues to increase in North Texas and other regions.

Oh, and you know that the kids in our custody are being assigned a hearing date, then being seeded out across America?

How many of them do you think show up for that hearing?

Well, here's some idea.

The youths were among 20 from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala who were set to appear in federal immigration court Tuesday for initial deportation hearings. But they weren’t there -- 18 of the children whose cases were set to be heard didn't show up Tuesday for court.

It was an absentee rate that federal Immigration Judge Michael Baird said was "highly unusual," so high that he reset the hearings for Aug. 11 rather than possibly issuing a deportation order.

So 18 out of 20 didn't show up.

The judge (this is the one who replaced the other judge, by the way!) said it was likely the kids just didn't get notice of their hearing date, so it's probably the government's fault, and he'll just reschedule rather than issue a deportation order.

Yeah, I can see why open borders agitators like this guy better.

From @Allout1 (Dr. Spank).
