The 2015 E3 has come to a close (gaming thread)

If you had to point to anyone "winning" the yearly clown show, it would obviously be the year 2015 and publishers reeling in sucker platform holders to pay for an exclusive "beta". Though I guess if you need to pin a "winner" ribbon on one of the platform holders, that would be Nintendo even if they also were plagued like everyone else in the "releasing in 2015" scene.

Down and out, Porto Rico would have had a busy day with the hook as EA showed absolutely nothing outside of the yearly sports games, a Battlefield 4 mod and The Sims 4. And Sony's presser would just not stop that the fat lady died during them showing concept art for the upcoming Powers TV show. Also, the whole Just Dance thing during Ubi's presser was a funky note (even though using a smartphone as a sensor is kinda cool) that at least to me just made me not really care about that show outside of Valiant Hearts which is frankly ruined when you realize who is narrating that trailer.

Though hands down, none of them really sold consoles during the presser for this year IMO with everything being 2015. I guess Bayo 2 which the first game didn't exactly light up the charts in the first place (though also getting the first game is a nice bonus)? The Halo Collection which is re-releasing games we've played over 13 years (even though the way they're doing multiplayer is interesting)? Or how about DriveClub, a game that was supposed to launch last November? As odd as it sounds, the most interesting thing from them is the Amiibo which is just Nintendo chasing that Skylanders and Disney Infinity money, don't own a Wii U but I'm buying a ton of those figures (Pit, Female Wii Fit Trainer, Samus, Marth, Fox McCloud, Link, Petunia and Donkey Kong for sure).

As for handhelds, you're out of luck for the most part. Nintendo didn't do much (though to be fair, that's more of a TGS thing) and Sony still gives the finger to anyone who has bought a Vita. Hell, Sony even dropped the Vita part of the Playstation Vita TV name for the West even though it's nothing more than a cannibalized Vita in a new package.

**************************MICROSOFT****************************

• Other than the Fables Legends demo going on for a bit longer than it should have, I don't think you could have fit more games into it if you tried.

• For being their first game, Moon Studios looks like they might have a keeper with Ori and the Blind Forest

• Out of their Indie game reel, Cuphead was far and away the most interesting of the lot. Hope it doesn't suck

• So the Halo Collection is what was leaked in February: Halo 1 Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary and ports of 3 and 4. There will be a new wrapper that goes before the first game and after the fourth game that serves as a prologue to Halo 5. Also contains a portal to the upcoming new Halo digital series called Nightfall which also serves as a prologue to Halo 5. As for multiplayer, it contains every Halo map ever made and thrown into a pot, bugs and exploits all. Oh and the cutscenes from Halo 2 have been replaced by CGI cutscenes made by Blur (must have cost a nice penny).

• Remember that cloud based destruction demo from the Build Conference a few months ago? It was an early Crackdown tech demo.

So Harmonix is releasing a Dance Central at the end of September which will act as a DLC service. And you can import the songs you bought on the 360. That's an instant purchase for me, it's been THE party game for me and my friends for the last 4 years.

• The news that made me the happiest was seeing MS remaking Phantom Dust. Futatsugi said on twitter that he is quite involved in the project but they never mentioned that Futa's company, Grounding are the ones making it so I'm kinda curious on what else him and his company is working on.

**************************SONY****************************

• Visually, The Order still looks gorgeous but like Destiny, every time I see gameplay, I get bored.

• So the best looking thing at last year's TGS, Lily Bergamo has morphed into what ever this is

Yeah, they've only been working on it for the last 6 months and they probably shouldn't have shown that this early.

• So apparently there is going to be another Dead Island game, this time made by Yager, the devs who made the highly over-rated Spec-Ops: The Line. Considering Yager's pedegree, I wouldn't be shocked if this has worse gameplay than what Techland did. That being said, the story will be praised by people who don't read books or watch movies pre-1980's.

• This MGSV trailer is so bad

• Bloodborne, the game that should have been Dark Souls 2 (made by Miyazaki, director of the first game). When this releases will be about the time I pick up a PS4

• Once again, No Man's Sky looks great but I really wish Hello Games would stop talking about it as they keep making more and more grandious claims about what it's going to be that I fully expect dissapointment.

• Well, they changed the name to Playstation TV from Vita TV and it should do better than what it's been doing in Japan (about 4k units a month) but I'm still perplexed by who it's for. As for a media streaming box, it's lacking for apps. As for gaming, the games you can play on it is small and lackluster and you have to deal with Sony's fisting you on memory card prices. And I still remain highly skeptical on PSNow as it's still an unproven money making concept after almost 10 years.

• Didn't like far Cry 2 and 3 but the new one looks pretty cool. And though they didn't really explain how it will work, giving the co-op away for free on the PS4 could be interesting

• Hey look, a new Batma..zzzzzzzzzzz.........

• People playing in the alpha are saying the game is good but man, this game has never grabbed me when ever they've shown it

• Some people are saying he looks like a zombie, I say his head is so huge it reminds me of Craig Sheefer in Nightbreed

**************************NINTENDO****************************

• This new Zelda game looks so gud. Hope they can fulfill their open world promises

• So here is Nintendo trying to get on that Skylanders and Disney Infinity gravy train

• So Hyrule Warriors is the Dynasty Warriors game we all expected

• I'm totally not posting this for the cheesecake factor

• Really like how they keep going with the unconventional art style for the Kirby games.

• Mario Maker is so awesome till you remember Nintendo's current state of their internet setup

&bulll; Though it makes me wish for a new De Blob game, it's nice to see Nintendo tackle something that is a bit out of their comfort zone with Splatoon. Game looks like a hoot

• I really want this, the new X (now called Xenoblade Chronicles X) trailer looks good be it looking like a bit of a downgrade in comparison to the earlier trailers

• Some actual Bayo 2 game play. I like how they're including Bayo 1 also.

**************************OTHER STUFF****************************

Not a fan of Warp Zone's vids but this actually pretty good

• new Valiant Hearts trailer

NEW RELEASES

UFC (PS4, Xbox One) - Glad they released a demo, I now know to skip this. I can see that MMA would be hard to create controls to but I'm too old to grasp holding three top buttons and then use either the left or right thumbstick to do anything. And they made the submissions moves even worse than what THQ cobbled together. I might buy it when it's in the bargain bin but I can't see myself dropping $60 on it.

Pushmo World (Wii U) - If I owned a Wii U, I would totally buy this game, I really liked the one on 3DS. Sure, it's pretty much the puzzles from Catherine but those puzzles were fun and this is more of it. Pretty simple, push and pull boxes to create routes to the flag on the top. Pushmo got pretty hard at the end and I expect to see this ramp up in difficulty faster (or I hope so).

I totally skipped a bunch a stuff as I ran out of time and became even more self loathing than normal.
