Gaming Thread 4/13/2014

Famous artist and game designer, Python Anghelo passed away on the 9th.

Of all the games to pick as being your personal THE GAME to get into being a gamer, mine is oddly Joust. Loved the art and just the general amount of fun that game produced between me and my family.

what can you say, this is a good troll from one of the creators of Cards Against Humanity. Read the "site" PWNMeal

NEWS

• Ubisoft and Nvidia showing off the PC release of Watch_Dogs

On one hand, it's Harmonix but on the other it's a F2P endless runner....ugh.

• Also at Pax East, Capybara has been showing off their upcoming Below game. It looks good

Respawn has announced the first DLC for TitanFall which is three maps to be released next month ($10) and they started talking about what the first wave of free updates are also coming (mutagen modes, new burn cards and the like).

• Not only did Firaxas announce that we're getting a new Civilization game, it's Space flavored. Gamespot did a big ol writeup on it. I'm excited

Well, you have PAX and PAX EAST and starting next year, you have PAX South in San Antonio.

• Finally showing off some dogfighting in the upcoming Star Citizen

Cryptic finally announced the start date for Season 9 of Star Trek Online. It's on on the 22nd.

Good attach rate for Infamous Second Son as it racked up a million sales in just over a week.

So Unreal Engine 4 is coming to the Windows Phone and Windows RT but still not coming to the Wii U.

• As much as I hated Bastion (so damn boring), it's nice to see that SuperGiant's upcoming Transistor is being released next month on the PC and PS4 on May 20th.

• Another year, another cutdown Magic The Gathering game for people who don't want to smell sweaty ass in real life or giving the password for your credit cards to Wizards of The Coast. Interesting they didn't announce it for the PS3 or PS4

• Be nice if Disney Infinity would you know, touch more on the traditional Disney properties but the next game looks to be Marvel focused. Considering I'm expecting next year to be Star Wars focused, we probably won't see the original stuff till 2016 at the earliest :/

• My initial reaction was NOOOO!! But after thinking of it, I'm okay with Bruce Lee being in the upcoming UFC game. I'm curious in who they had doing the Jeet Kune Do mocap.

• Not really gaming related but Microsoft announced a few new tv projects they're working on.

Channel 4 and them are making an English version of Swedish show, Real Humans (the first season was good so this should be interesting).

The permits have been cleared, they've been given the go ahead with digging up the Alamogordo Landfill in search of the infamous fabled stash of E.T Atari carts. If you want, you can spend the whole day watching them digging live on April 26th. With Zak Penn being behind it, it should be a hoot. Hopefully he can rope Warner Herzog to be there.

NEW RELEASES

Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars (3DS & Vita) - There is a demo up for both platforms if this makes you curious. Personally, I dug the demo on the Vita so I'll probably be buying this in the near future. This is basically Eugenics: The Videogame (I wish they stole the first game's subtitle for this one "Please Have My Child"). You do some "classmating" with girls and create offspring and treat them like Pokemon like meatshields in this JRPG. #Japan

Out of The Park 15 (PC, Linux, Mac & IOS) - I'm totally cheating on this one as it's only being released on Friday for people who have pre-ordered it but I don't care, I really can't wait for this new entry, it now has 3D stadiums. I'm a Brewers fan and this is the only way I can watch them not being a pile of crap. Anyways, do you like number crunching and staring at menus? Well, this is the game for you as you get to run the front office and manager of a Baseball club. Now, this isn't a liscensed game so you do have to hit up the day one custom files to get it up and running properly with real logos but it's worth it. People seem to think Football Manager is the best management sim series around and to those people I ask if they've played Out of The Park as this craps on it from great heights. You have no idea on how many hours I've spent on this game. Buy it here for $40. I'd post a video but no one has released anything of the new version yet :(

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS4) - The PS4 release of this MMO finally comes out. It's a free upgrade if you've been playing it on the PS3 (or know someone who has and can log you into it and then you can go to the website to upgrade) or it's $40 with a month of time. I'm curious in how well this game will travel on Vita with remote play.

Yomi (iOS) - The mobile adaptation of the boardgame is finally here. It's a fighting game based around rock-paper-scissors with a few wrinkles to add a bit of depth. This is a boardgame that I've always wanted to buy but could never stomach dropping the $100 for it and though you can try out the online version for free on their website, I couldn't get into it. It will be interesting in seeing how another premium boardgame does sales wise. For iOS, $9.99 for the original 10 characters and another $9.99 for the expansion characters is a bit steep.

Trials Fusion (PC, PS4, Xbox One & 360) - I can't say I was a big fan of the last one, Evolution as I found it a bit too easy but I have my fingures crossed that this one is more to my liking. The concept is really easy to grasp: you're on a dirt bike going through timed obstical courses while being very careful with the position of your body so you don't wipe doing wheelies or endos. It's simple, it has a ton of content and the series is typically hard so you don't run through it all in one or two sittings. This is more interesting in that while you can buy the regular game digitally for $20, the physical release wil run you $40 as it includes the season pass. There are supposed to be 6 or so content packs in addition in what ever people make in the track editors. And though I may not have been a big fan of Evolution, it did introduce multiplayer which was a lot of fun and this contues with that. Throw in an actual trick system and I'm game

Wargame: Red Dragon (PC) - Eugen Systems, I really like this series but please quit pumping out so many full priced stand alone expansion packs, Airland Battle isn't even a year old. That being said if you're interested, what you will get is a killer but sadly slept on RTS with a great multiplayer community.

That's it,
