Remember those advertisements for Cover Oregon? So sweet, so full of naive idealism about the power of state projects to bring happiness to the land.

So charming and darling, so minty-fresh, so heart-strainingly earnest and optimistic.

And yet, artistic expression could not prevent corrupt failures of actual execution. Below the fold, Oregon hippies.
