Lost In SPAAAACE- Gaming Thread

Good afternoon M&M's! I hope your weekend was spent enjoying the AceOfSpadesHQ LifestyleTM in whatever manner you do. I spent mine in the salt mines (I was invited to work the weekend) and pursuing crappy Timers in Eve (There's a new war!).

As a preface, I opened a new email box that if you have something you want to write up for the allegedly "Weekly" Gaming post, submit it to me aoshqgaming at gmail dot com . I'll help you get it edited and then i'll post it up. Now lets get to the meat of this thing below the fold.

Allrighty then. Since I watched Curiosity landing with everyone else last week, I want to lead off with a "game" that we have talked about in the past, but Giant Bomb did a quick look on it, so I want to bring it back. Of course I'm talking about Kerbal Space Program. There's a free version of the game, although It's more of a simulator, and I recommend taking a look at it. If you like it, buy the "full" version as it's been patched more and an additional Orbital body has been added.

These guys do what everyone does their first few hours playing. Meaning blowing stuff up.

A Mun Run

I will say that I was so excited the first time I was even captured in Mun orbit, let alone landing and returning. Very exhilarating game. Hope you give it a shot.

Now on to Internet Spaceships. Which are Serious Business. CCP Cracks me up with thier Back to School Splash screen

Going to link you to one of the most dedicated Eve Bloggers out there, Rote Kappelle's Riptard Teg who writes at Jester's Trek concerning the rolling out of a new Eve News Website. That Website is TheMittani.com. Now full disclosure, I am in the CFC and there's no love lost between me and EN24. Not only will you find excellent articles by people we are actively fighting a war with, you'll find a nice set of book reviews and discussion. The Goons may be a more liberal than your average Moron, but we all like books, and their book thread is pretty awesome.

Now in Eve, there are very few rules. But there is a Rule #1. Never Fly what you can't afford to lose. In Eve, once you undock from a station, even in High Security Space, you can lose your ship through game mechanics. They might be Suicide Gankers, or an Awoxer. Awoxing is usually defined as providing warp ins to Enemy vessels to your "friends", usually in Nullsec. But Its generally used to describe shooting people that are Blue to you. Whether they are in your Corp, Alliance, or Coalition. Here's a guy that was doing level 4 missions flying a ship that clearly violated Rule #1 when an Awoxer got him.

Here's the Killmail Now for the tears:

You can literally listen to him go through the stages of grief in that recording. Pretty sure I heard sniffles in there. But seriously, when playing Eve, Follow Rule #1. Back when I was a nooblet doing Level 3 Missions, I was poor as hell, and it was dicey at best whether I could afford to fly my Noob Drake. I was hella nervous. Even on the Coalition Level this applies. When the CFC was getting 40 titans dropped on it by the Enemy and welping massive numbers of Alpha fleets, we had to change up some Fleet concepts away from Alpha Fleet(Maelstroms, Scorpions, Scimis) to Drake Fleet. Now this is evolving again into Tengu Fleet, Rokh Fleet (maybe), etx

Now on to the actual big news that happened this week in Nullsec. Remember when I talked about how the CFC was going to war in the South? Yes? Well that's done, we are back home and fighting a new war with our neighbors. What didn't stop was the big mess of a war between the new Honey Badger Coalition(HBC) and Against all Authorities (AAA). Eventually someone gets smug and messes up in a big way. AAA did that, and proceeded to lose 15 Supercaps to the HBC. Go read Grath's (of Pandemic Legion) write up Here.

I also recommend giving Shit on Kugu 19 a listen. Not only do you get to hear Grath talk about the fight, you'll get DBRB (Goon FC) give a report on the war in the North (And troll heavily). Grab that Here.

Test's Sindel Pellion did a great parody with some great clips of AAA's FC Makalu

Up in the North, we've been having "issues" with Bombers. Well done Bomb runs can be amazing, and in Heavy Time Dilation(TiDi), they really look epic.

This run by Gypsy Band got 60 Battleships

Down in the South, this run got something crazy like 120 Drakes

Anyways, If you play Eve, Join the Moron Channel AoSHQ

Hello, it's The Dude again

My post will be short and sweet as I spent my week playing MechWarrior Online and replaying porn...err I mean eroge....mmmm, I mean visual novels.

Last weekend at QuakeCon, after countless speculation, the remake for Rise of the Triad was finally announced. Going to cost $15 with some planned free DLC

NASA's Moonbase Alpha game is getting some upgrades with a multiplayer minigame and they will be adding Mars landscape in the near future.

In old games getting new content, Scott Pilgrim is finally getting online multiplayer two years after it's release and Metal Gear Solid 4 is getting trophy support. Sure, what everyone was clammering for was a reason to play MGS4 again with it's god awful story.

Of the games coming out this week, all eyes should be on the battle between the two sequels Darksiders 2 and Sleeping Dogs (was a True Crime game). And while that it going on, I'll be keeping a keen eye on Dust: An Elysian Tail (though made by a furry, it looks like a good beat em up) and Papa & Yo (a platformer about a monster and his addict father)

I would write about the Starcraft 2 Korean Nationals but I have to cop to being so out of it when watching that I can't even give a breakdown for retards. Only thing I can honestly say is that as expected, the KeSPa players had a bad showing outside of Reality, RorO and Soulkey. Though Reality is in the losers bracket, he is a great darkhorse if he wasn't going to end up facing Mvp in round 2. RorO played great, enough to beat Leenock but his micros were BAD and I don't see him beating Squirtle. And Soulkey was good but not to the level needed to compete.
