Overnight Open Thread

Hey, hey, it's Saturday night. And don't forget to flip your clock forward at 2am EST for Daylight Savings Time well unless you're NCJ or a Zonie. Don't worry you'll get your extra hour of ONT back in November.

The Many Moods of Chewbacca
He's more than a walking rug you know. He's got feelings. And he wields a crossbow.

Followup to the worst V-day proposal/breakup ever
Here the DJs interview the guy a few days after the online breakup. He reflects on what's happened since and it also turns out that the situation was worse than he imagined - she had been cheating on him for almost the entire 5 years they were together.

And if you missed it last week, here's the original worst V-day proposal/breakup:

Is the Toyota acceleration issue just oldsters mashing on the gas pedal?
Well Megan McArdle makes a pretty good argument that that's the case. If there really is a defect in the car's system, why does it disproportionately affect drivers over 70 years old? And why mostly when the car is going from a stopped position?

It's starting to look a lot like the Audi acceleration scare back during the 80's which was ultimately found to be caused by 'driver pedal misapplication'. And it took 13 years for Audi's sales to recover which explains why Toyota is worried about a 'lost decade'.

'The Pacific' arrives tomorrow on HBO
I still want to see it but I also don't want to reward Tom Hanks after his revisionist idiocy so I guess I'll be downloading it off the internet.

Burt Reynolds gets a quintuple heart bypass
And seems to be recovering well.
And if you were a fan of the Smokey and the Bandit movies, I highly recommend these Big Hollywood articles on the movies and the director behind them, Hal Needham.

For Conservative Movie Lovers: Hal Needham, Burt Reynolds and ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ Part 2
[and there are 3 more parts]

Meet Goliath the Fat Cat
He was found in Oregon stuck in a doggie door after stealing food from a garage.

Is this blog carbon neutral?
Hell no.
