Overnight Open Thread – On Matters of War & Water Guns (genghis)
As a smart military blog we would be remiss if we didn’t occasionally take a break from constantly posting stories and photos of busty lesbians and busty lesbian-related issues. So here’s some token items in order to fulfill the once a month martial quota:
Item #1: National Journal has a veeeeeerrry long but interesting piece titled Judging a War in which they, well, judge wars that the U.S. has been involved with in order to try and answer the question “Which U.S. Wars Were Worth Fighting.”
The article itself isn’t too biased though does seem a little preoccupied with the unintended consequences various wars. (There’s also some charts way down at the bottom with brief summaries for those of you with ADD) For the real bias though, you have to go to the article’s companion piece where several “noted historians and other eminent thinkers or something” weigh in on the subject. Larry Korb from the lefty Center for American Progress has a predictably ludicrous and partisan statement. Hey Larry, use hyperbole much?
More below the fold…
Item #2: So in the future, once we’ve decided to go to war (despite professional hand-wringers like Mr. Korb), it’s more and more likely it seems that we’ll be using automated drones, terminators and such. So what’s to keep them from going batshit crazy and turning on us? ABC News (Oz version) ‘splains in an article titled Future of Warfare: Killing Machines With a Conscience.
”Engineers in the United States are looking at the possibility of programing ethics into military weapons. Concerns about the deaths of non-combatants in so-called collateral damage have led robotic engineers to research new technology that could see military devices act ethically during combat and even follow the international rules of war. Emotions like guilt or a sense of responsibility might also be included in the military software to mitigate the risk to civilians.”
Well sure, that all sounds good and everything, but how long do you think it’ll take Skynet to find the ethics sub-routine and disable it?
Item #3: Finally, for all you amateur military historians out there, Popular Mechanics runs down a list of the top 6 hydro-based personal weaponry of all time. Bonus! Includes an interview with Lonnie Johnson, the Kalashnikov of such weapons.
Regularly scheduled busty lesbian content will return tomorrow night.
